The Fighting 4 Liam Brigade 10.06.2021

CL Becker Photography has been capturing Liam’s life story since he was a fetus. In 2014, when he was diagnosed with stage IV High Risk cancer, we realized just how precious these photos were.

You need to be in isolation for an uncertain amount of time! At that time you can NOT be in contact with anyone other than your guardians and if they have so much as a sniffle or cold sore, they will not be allowed in your room. This was the reality we were in 5 years ago when Liam went for transplant. The isolation was because his immune system was wiped out and a simple cold could have killed him. We were in for 40 days and for Liam that was essentially the size of a ja...il cell as he never got to leave that room. Given the uncertain times I want to encourage everyone to take this very seriously as any one of us could have a loved one put into a very dire situation. I know the thought of isolating is daunting, but I can tell you from experience you can do it, and you need to do it. It will go very slowly initially until you find your routine. Reconnect with your kids, your family and have social hangouts online (pretty fun). We will all come out of this with great strength, perspective, unity and a better outlook on life because we all helped slow this down. Full disclosure, until today we have been pretty flexible with our kids playing with friends outside and a bit indoors as well. I am writing this post because we felt the stern warning today and know we need to follow these guidelines and also try to guide others. None of us will be perfect at it, but be very aware of your decisions and you will make an impact.

Good Morning Everyone Liam has been doing very well and enjoying school and hockey a lot this year. Our September check-up was once again GOOD NEWS and Liam will be moved to after-care in August of next year provided everything continues to be good. We are not doing the Monster March this year but have joined forces with Liam's Hockey team and his Goalie Partner Zach, to raise funds for Pediatric Cancer thru the OctoberSaves initiative. You can support them by following th...e link below. You can make a flat donation or a donation per save they make in the month of Oct. Amounts can be adjusted at the end of the month if they save too many shots :) We appreciate all the support for us, and the charity work we have been a part of. We also recognize the tremendous support for the various things we have been involved in so a like and a share if just as appreciated to help drive awareness for Kids Cancer. Thank you all https://octobersaves.org/goalie/andrew.cuttle/

This story. It hits so close to home. I know exactly what Sam’s mother is feeling because five years ago, this was us... In fact, five years ago yesterday, Liam started chemotherapy at SickKids hospital. We started fundraising for cancer research at the hospital almost immediately. It helped us feel like we weren’t losing control. For many reasons last year, we focused on advocacy and took a brief hiatus from the fundraising/Monster March we had organized for four years... Bu...t Sam’s lemonade stand has reminded us why we started and has inspired Liam to lead the way. Yesterday, Liam and Skylar created a Liam’s Brigade team to raise money for the SickKids Get Loud event. Their goal is to raise $15,000. They drew pictures and sold some stuffies to our neighbours for $1-$2 each. We couldn’t be more proud of them for realizing how lucky we are and for practicing altruism in a time that the world truly needs it. More info will follow but if you would like to donate to our team or to an individual on our team, here is the link below. We also encourage you to join Liam’s Brigade and come march with us on September 28th in Toronto. http://www.support.sickkidsfoundation.com//Ge/GetLoud2018 https://toronto.citynews.ca//4-year-old-raises-money-for-/

Happy Sunday. Hope everyone has been well. Liam has been doing great and starting to really come into his own!!! This August will be 5 years from diagnosis, hard to believe. We are getting closer to that milestone and keep our spirits strong that the cancer is behind him for good. Check out this pick with his cousin Colin Francis almost 5 years later(taken today). Liam played with his new hockey team and lost in the finals but the team had his back and fought hard. Liam was awarded the tournament MVP but will be the first to say his team really had his back. Very proud of the little guy. Thanks Colin for coming
