Employees who continue to work during the covid-19 crisis but are REQUIRED by their employer to work from home may be able to deduct a portion of their home office expenses on their 2020 income tax return. CRA has not yet published amendments to the current terms but it's on their radar. For your 2020 income tax - keep your utility bills, internet bills, rent receipts, cleaning supplies and any work-related supplies, for the period you had to stay and work from home. If you are a commissioned salesperson you may also be able to deduct a portion of your cell phone, home insurance, property taxes and mortgage interest.
