This week's Finex Lending FAQ Friday How is my credit score calculated? FIVE key factors determine your credit score. 1) 35% - Payment History A credit score includes how all credit accounts are being repaid. This includes a record of late payments, items of public record, and foreclosures. Regular on-time payments reflect positively on a borrower. 2) 30% - Credit Utilization This is a measure of how much of your available credit is being used. It factors in t...he number of accounts with balances and the amount paid on installment loans. Generally, lower credit utilization is viewed as positive. 3) 15% - Length of Credit History Lenders typically want to see multiple credit loans with a positive payment history and low utilization for a minimum of two years. 4) 10% - Types of Credit Lenders typically like to see a borrow manage a variety of credit types. A credit score can increase when a borrow proves that they can manage several different credit accounts. 5) 10% - Inquiries Borrowers who continually seek new credit can negatively impact their credit scores.
