As early childhood educators our team knew it was important for us to do our part in these uncertain times to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by wearing masks in our centre. When we first started wearing masks a few weeks ago, it was challenging as the children were used to seeing not only our faces, but our expressions. We did our best to explain to the children why it’s important for teachers to wear masks & reassured their feelings to the new changes. Something th...at has supported us and the children through this transition is our emotional charts that we wear around daily! It allows the children to approach, share how they are feeling and how we can assist with what they are needing in that moment. Social-emotional learning is a large part of our philosophy, as it is key to self-awareness, relationship skills, self-regulation and so much more! We are excited we have found a tool to discover more ways to enhance the children’s social emotional skills in these challenging times. See more

Congratulations Miss Kam and Miss Prab You both have worked so hard to complete your ECE certification through the College of New Caledonia. While working for most of the time, you practiced, studied very hard and most impressively thrived through it with English as your second language. We are all so proud of you and your accomplishment. You will do wonderful things in your careers and truly make a positive impact on all the children and families you work closely with. A staff retreat was a perfect opportunity to take a step back from the day-to-day work at Fingerprints and spend some time relaxing together. It's was a time to rejuvenate the team, get everyone excited around a united mission, set goals and build stronger bonds between team members. Grateful for our extraordinary team of educators and getting to spend time in a beautiful log cabin with an outdoor kitchen overlooking the river and mountains
