If you've ever wondered what a flute looks like with no keys, here you are! You don't often see plastic resonators like this. This one is all ready for a cleaning. Also, this week I returned to the studio for lessons! If you are interested in woodwind lessons, you can contact me here or through Long & McQuade North Bay.
I've been busy doing some professional development so I haven't spent much time in the cellar recently, but it's nice to be back. Today I'm tuning up some clarinets and replacing a bunch of cork.
It's fun seeing all of the cool instruments that come in. Here is a cornet I worked on a few weeks ago. Slides were seized and and it was covered in tarnish but cleaned up nicely. Here is the before and after.
Hello everyone! Welcome to Finlay Music Cellar. I am a musician and teacher in North Bay. Last summer I started this little experiment of fixing instruments. I had a lot to learn (still do) about repairs, but it's been fun. People have been asking, so I figured I'd set up this page to show what I do. What else is there to do while we're all stuck at home?
