Co-Founder Russ was invited to speak at Next Big Thing this past weekend, a one-day, entrepreneur-focused, educational conference, to give new entrepreneurs the low down on Cash Flow. For those that couldn’t attend, here’s the coles notes: 1. Poor cash flow management and/or cash flow emergencies are cited for 82% of small businesses shutting down. 2. Many small business owners operate day to day without having a savings buffer.... 3. Saving a little bit from each piece of revenue for Taxes, Annual Expenses, and Emergencies can cover (or at least soften the blow) of expected and unexpected expenses. 4. Have these savings buffers can also allow an entrepreneur to start looking toward the future and make predictions of obstacles that might come their way. Even having a fuzzy image of the future is better than none at all. You might notice that these principles would apply to personal/household finances and you’d be right. A lot of what we preach to our personal financial clients are very applicable to small businesses.
