Fireball World Championships 2019 21.01.2021

Hello fireball sailors! Thank you to everyone who came out and made the last 2 weeks of August an absolute BLAST. I had so much fun and can't wait for the opportunity to participate in another World Championship regatta sometime in the future! Many of you requested high-resolution photos from the NAs & Worlds. You may find all of Urs' photos on his website: http://www.vet-sailing.ch//Worls%20Canada%202019/index.html.... Wishing everyone a great year! Cheers, Kat

Fireball World Championships 2019 02.01.2021

Well, the Fireball 2019 championship has come to a close. By now everyone knows that it ended in spectacular fashion. The last day brought a beautiful South West wind, solid 20's, with gusts close to 30. The battle for the championship was hard fought down to the wire. Dobson & Wagstaff sealed it with a win. It was a thrilling finish. But now the village of Pointe-Claire has resumed it's bucolic relaxed pace. The only excitement on the water these days is a rare sighting of ...that most elite of RCMP, the Moose Mounted Mountie patrolling the shoreline. The moose, the all terrain vehicle of the Canadian wilderness, is notoriously difficult to train. The bond between rider and steed once established is legendary. Moose will not tolerate a saddle or reins and must be ridden bare back. Directions are seemingly given telepathically. It is as if moose and Mountie share a single brain. As they passed the Mountie tipped his hat and the moose dipped his antlers in unison. As they disappeared around a bend I was left thinking what it means to be a Canadian. The overnight temperatures have already dipped into single digits (Celsius), igloo season will soon be upon us. I have already started prepping for the trapping season, my snowshoes sit waxed and ready by the front door. We are a global nation with a unique perspective. I hope that everyone who participated in this years championship experienced a little bit of what being Canadian is all about. Thanks to everyone who came, next year will see a new adventure in Ireland. See more
