Twas the day before Easter and all through the land The virus was raging anew People were lonely, or angry and scared Rules so strict about what you could do Granny’s were missing their grandkids,... The children were yearning for sports, Folks who were working from home for a year Looked at zoom and thought Time to abort Eyes that were hollow and desperate Masks worn to cover a smile A dread about schools, a shortage of shots Lining up to buy food, single file yet, even in this, the darkest of times, Spring was beginning, encouraging signs The sun was much warmer, the days getting long The chirping of birds filled the air with their song Flowers were poking their heads from the ground Reminding us all that hope still abounds A time of renewal, of faith and of hope To be thankful for life on a far bigger scope I’m thankful for friends that I miss from afar The blessings of life , a bright evening star I know in my heart that ‘one day it will end’ We’ll dance in the streets, give a hug to a friend The joy will return, we’ll be happy and free So keep your faith, friends, as we go through wave three.
