Today, our 2019 Canadian Franchisee of the Year - Pradip (Phil) Patel - opens his third restaurant in Ottawa, along with new partners: firefighter Denis Charbonneau and Firehouse Subs Ottawa managers Sunita Thapa and Aswin Selvaraj! This is the 41st restaurant in Canada, and our 10th opening in 2020! Thank you to our amazing franchisees and teams who have worked hard to make it possible for us to continue operating and opening restaurants safely during this time, and a huge... thank you to our loyal guests, who continue to choose us for takeout! Phil and the team are incredible community ambassadors, and have built many close relationships with people in the community. October is First Responders’ Month at Firehouse Subs! More than ever, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations for the Public Safety Foundation. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada provides grants to first responder organizations to purchase life-saving equipment, technology, and training. Due to COVID-19, all our major fundraising events for the year were cancelled, but the number of requests for grants from local first responder organizations ha...s never been higher. If you have the means to donate during this time, we would be very grateful. Ways to help: 1) round up your purchase to the nearest dollar 2) purchase a pickle bucket for a $3 donation 3) donate any spare change to our canister at the register 4) purchase a medallion, and have the chance to win some amazing prizes - details in store! Here they grow again!!! HUGE congratulations to our amazing 2018 Canadian Franchisees of the year - Bill, Phil, and Teresa - who are opening their 8th restaurant today!! This is the first location in St. Thomas, and the 38th in Canada. Franchisee Bill Carr has a special connection to this city, as he was born and raised in St. Thomas and still lives in the area with his wife (who is a registered nurse) and children. In fact, generations of his family have lived in St. Th...omas for more than 120 years! The team looks forward to continuing to give back to the St. Thomas community through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada. The St. Thomas Fire Department has already received more than $20,000 for a Bullex Fire Extinguisher Training System, and the franchisees also donated nearly 200 boxed lunches to frontline healthcare workers at St. Thomas Elgin Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic this year. Beyond that, Phil, Teresa, and Bill have created an amazing culture of fundraising at all their restaurants. Out of almost 1200 Firehouse Subs locations across North America, one of their restaurants was the 2nd overall top fundraiser for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation in 2019, raising over $32,000!!!
