So someone lost a piece of firewood on 771 recently. Just want everyone to know it didn't come from my trailer. I was quite shocked to drive over it at dusk!!... Please people - if you're going to be hauling things around, make sure they can't fall off your truck - or whatever you're transporting them with. Doesn't matter what it is - make sure you are transporting safely for the sake of everyone on the roads. See more
Just a courtesy update: We can still do a few more deliveries before spring breakup shuts us down. Only in the morning, and only on the frost. As soon as the thaw happens, we will only have a small amount of wood available until things dry out. Firewood is by telephone appointment only. We won't have much under our shed as we have been flat out with deliveries, and our processed supplies are low. Sorry for this inconvenience. We're still doing our best.
We have been home from our holiday 17 days, and hope that is a safe amount of time. At the time we landed, no isolation periods were in place. Our flights were not listed below, so we hope we are not carriers. We were in contact with almost no one at the Toronto stopover part of our flight, getting in at night to an almost empty area. Also in Edmonton, we were shuffled through so fast we didn't feel like we were even there. We have been in contact with people other than our... children only in a church family setting, 3 equipment repair stops in Red Deer on March 3, and are currently minimalizing contact with the outside world. If you need to buy wood, we are accommodating that as wood is available- don't need you to freeze!! We can socially distance ourselves from you quite nicely outside. But perhaps assess your risk and let us know where you fit in. We have elderly parents that we want to protect. See more
After 18 successful years in business as a primary provider of firewood in Central Alberta, targeting Gull Lake, Ponoka, Rimbey, Lacombe and Crestomere areas, (600+ cords / year) we are changing our method of operation. We are semi-retiring, and will be selling firewood BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Our standard method of firewood by the cubic inch will still apply for anyone picking up wood. A minimum load charge of 10.00 applies should you require us to load by tractor. You will st...ill need to pack & level your load. You literally only pay for what you buy, dependent on the cubic inch measurement of your truck, trailer, or car trunk. It is important to note that a shortbox pickup holds between .3 & .47 cord. There is NO standard truck, and a shortbox cannot hold half a cord. Our wood is split, and we will let you know if it is or is not completely cured. Wood is cut to aprox. 14 inch length. We stock poplar, pine, tamarack & birch when available from our suppliers. We can deliver any amount up to 2 cords for a fee of 50$ for the first 30km. and 1.75/km one way after the first 30km, with aprox. 100 km being our furthest delivery destination. We are open whenever you can get hold of us, and we are definitely closed when the firewood yard is wet. Since we have a locked security gate, you MUST phone before coming over. This is different from in the past when we were just always open. Winter firewood ordered from spring on is still going to be our main business. We endeavour to return messages promptly. 403-783-8804. Poplar - $200 Pine - $265 Tamarack - $350.00 Birch - 470.00 Price is for a full cord picked up and includes GST. Prices updated March 5/2020.
We said it would happen. We are out of all dry and cured -ready to burn wood. Please contact us again in the spring. In the meantime, we highly recommend calling Sheldon Ganske for dry ready to burn wood. 1-780-387-1214. His pricing is higher than ours - pretty much everyone's is - his wood is good quality.
We are at that place where we have to let you know that there is no way in the world that we are going to have enough wood this winter to supply all of our customers. Last winter was brutal, so the wood that we processed for this summer was sold in Feb. and March. That started us getting behind. The loggers have been unable to get trees out of the bush so smaller firewood operations have been buying wood from us to resell. We have put a stop to that now. We are currently selling birch for winter that is semi green, and we are going to run out of tamarack - We have no poplar to process. We will have dry pine available as long as we can purchase it. We sell about 700 cords a year so this was bound to happen sooner or later!!
