I just want to give a note of explanation as to why our church will be closed until the end of March. The decision was reached after a time of discussion by the Leadership Team on Tuesday Night, Feb. 02. It was a good discussion and everyone had the chance to participate in the discussion. It was made keeping the safety and protection of our church family as it's highest concern. The point of concern for us was the lack of knowledge on the UK variant that has just made it's... way into the province. The variant is much more contagious than the strand we have been dealing with, and we have little or no information on how rapidly it can move from one area to another. What we do know is that if it were to come into our area, that the number of co-vid cases could rise dramatically and put lives at risk. Dr. Russell's comments and attitude at recent briefings made it evident that this new variant was a great concern for her. She made it clear that the only way to contain it was to stop it before it got a chance to spread, for if it did, there would be great difficulty in contact tracing, as the speed in which the virus could spread due to the variant would negate any of the positive benefits of tracing. There is also concern about the March Break and that people, although they are not supposed to be doing non-essential travel, will be travelling anyway. Government is trying to learn more about the UK variant and have made the decision to keep the province in an Orange phase (with the exception of the Moncton zone (red phase) and Edmundston, zone (lockdown), for the next several weeks. We believe this will until after the March break at least, but most likely until the end of March. Knowing this, the Leadership Team felt that the best course of action to take would be to keep the church closed until the end of March. If the situation should change in a significant positive direction, we will reevaluate this decision. Please keep in mind the resources that we have available as we continue through this time. Our radio broadcasts will proceed at 9:00 and 11:00 am. Zoom Bible Study will also be held on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. Schedules for these events will also be posted on facebook. We are in the process of making plans for Easter services, and I'm waiting for a response from CKNB as to available time slots. I would ask that you keep us in prayer as we try to lead our church through these turbulent times. Co-vid 19 is difficult to plan for because the situation constantly changes, and we have to respond to those changes. I will be sending out an update letter this week, once I hear from the Radio Station so that I can announce the planned activities for Easter. Until then, I hope this post helps you to understand our position. Thank You for your prayer: pastor Doug
