With everyone in close quarters these days accidents around the home could occur. Hot liquids such as coffee, the heating element from the oven, flames from a barbeque flare up, or steam from a kettle are all sources of a thermal burn. It's a superficial burn if the skin is red, its painful, and there could be swelling. What can you do? Cool the area with clean running water for at least 10 minutes. Appropriate ointments may be used as long as there are no blisters, or broken skin. Stay safe.
