One Service Only at 10:00 a.m. this Sunday (18 April) I began a new series last Sunday entitled, Faith that Pleases God. I believe that in these days of crisis and change; all of us need a fresh infusion of faith! All of us who call ourselves believers, desire to please God in our faith walk. This sermon series is a study of Hebrews 11 and this week we will look at this verse: 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things whic...h are seen were not made of things which are visible. There are many in our world who are not faith people. They don't believe in special creation, that God is the Creator who created everything in this world. Many are atheists, some are agnostic, some are hardcore evolutionists or Darwinists or even theistic evolutionists (who believe that the Biblical creation is compatible with Darwinism.) This verse says clearly that to have a comprehension of a world that was created by God Almighty requires faith! It is a Conviction of Faith (that is the evidence of things not seen); it is a Comprehension by Faith (something we receive by God through the spirit of faith); it is the Construct of Faith ( that God framed the worlds and all that is in them); it is the Command of Faith (God spoke the worlds into existence); and lastly it is Creation as seen by Faith. Join us for live church on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. or via live stream by going to https://www.firstbaptistsudbury.com and clicking on live stream; for Faith in the Creator (We will be worshiping together under the 15% capacity restriction, as well as the other covid protocols i.e. mandatory face masks/face coverings.) Live-stream Service Only This Sunday (21 March) This Sunday we are continuing with our Easter series; The Power to Lay It Down. Last week, in the first sermon of the series entitled, Christ, Our Passover Lamb, I looked at Matthew 26 and a scene from 2 days before Passover in which Jesus was anointed with precious anointment by Mary. We spoke about the fact that Jesus was resolved to be the Lamb who will be slain for the sins of the world; in spite of the demonic agen...da that opposed Him. He was, and is the Passover Lamb; the Prepared Lamb; and the Risen Lamb. This week, as we continue into Matthew 26; we find two plots that are opposed to one another at the Passover supper: in the first act we see Judas conspiring with religious leaders to put Jesus to death, and in the next scene we see Jesus instituting a new Covenant by His blood. Two covenants (agreements) are being made: the one by Judas with priests that has a cost of 30 pieces of silver that leads to our Saviour’s death; the other made by Jesus with you and I, made with the invaluable price of His blood that brings eternal life! Services at 8:45 a.m. & 10:00 a.m. this Sunday (10 April) I will be starting a new series this Sunday entitled, Faith that Pleases God. I believe that in these days of crisis and change; all of us need a fresh infusion of faith! All of us who call ourselves believers, desire to please God in our faith walk. This sermon series is a study of Hebrews 11 which begins with these verses: 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by... it the elders obtained a good testimony. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. The writer of Hebrews says that Faith is first of all substantial; it’s a support system for our lives; its like God driving spiritual piles/posts into our soul in order for us to believe what He has promised. Its also something that God Almighty commends us for; like He commended the patriarchs of old for their great Faith. And Faith is something that God has given us a capacity for; through spiritual eyes we see and understand and know what others cannotbecause of Faith. Join us for church on Sunday at 8:45 & 10:00 a.m. or via livestream (10:00 a.m. only) by going to https://www.firstbaptistsudbury.com and clicking on livestream; for Will He Find Faith? The Body of Christ Part 12 It’s Time to Grow Up We are continuing our series on The Body of Christ this week as we discuss It’s Time to Grow Up. We have been learning the practical application as to how the body of Christ functions and who the gifted are in the body from Ephesians 4; this week we talk about the how; how do we become mature in the body of Christ. Ephesians 4: 13 Till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, ...to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the headChrist.. So, what does maturity look like in the body of Christ? Is it the person with the biggest Bible or the spotless attendance record? No, the Measure of Maturity is found in knowing Christ as Paul did- in the power of His resurrection, the fellowship of His sufferings and conforming to His death. The Mark of Maturity is found in withstanding the winds of heresy that blow around; and the Mandate (or goal) of Maturity is growing up in all things", in every thing and every way growing into Christ. The Body of Christ Part 11 Your Gift makes Room for You We are continuing our series on The Body of Christ this week as we discuss Your Gift makes Room for You . We have been learning the practical application as to what the body of Christ does from Ephesians 4; this week we talk about who are the gifted ones in the body of Christ. Ephesians 4: 7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.11 And He Himself gave some to be apos...tles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ Who is it that are the gifted ones in the body of Christvs.7 says that each one of us who belong to Christ gets a gift; the gifts are given to each according to Christ’s measure; each one has a different gift; the gift is used to equip the saints for ministry; and the gift is used to build up the body of Christ. The Body of Christ Part 10 Keeping the Unity of the Spirit We are continuing our series on The Body of Christ this week as we discuss Keeping the Unity of the Spirit. We have been using 1 Peter 2 as a text over the last number of weeks, talking in theory about who the Body of Christ is. But now we are moving on to the practical application as to what the body of Christ does from Ephesians 4. Ephesians 4:1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk ...worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Over the next 3 weeks we will be speaking about how the body is to ideally function; what it is designed to do and why it functions as a body in the world. This Sunday we will talk about the how of the function; it operates in the unity of the Spirit and keeps that unity by recognizing our calling as members of the body, our growth in Christian character, and our commitment to the community of believers to be united in the Spirit. Join us on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for Keeping the Unity of the Spirit; or join us via livestream at https://www.firstbaptistsudbury.com. Take heart and be blessed; Pastor Kevin See more

The Body of Christ Part 9 Take the Name We are continuing our series on The Body of Christ this week as we discuss Take the Name. Last week we spoke of the fact that we are a holy nation. This week we are talking about the church being God’s own special people. 1 Peter 2: 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people. The nation of Israel, that God redeemed from slavery in Egypt are described by God Himself as H...is special people; His treasured possession. If you put it in terms of a marriage covenant, God had courted them as a nation; He had literally swept her away by carrying her out of captivity and put her on the road to freedom. But now in the book of Deuteronomy, God is proposing through Moses that the nation finally enter into the marriage contract; To Make the vow and Take the Name! Deut 26:17 Today you have proclaimed the Lord to be your God, and that you will walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments, and His judgments, and that you will obey His voice. 18 Also today the Lord has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you... We too, as God’s holy nation are His special people. We call ourselves by His Name, Christians; which literally means of those who belong to Christ, or little Christs. We take His Name and understand that there is a great responsibility in doing so. Join us on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for Take the Name; or join us via livestream at https://www.firstbaptistsudbury.com. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour on Saturday night! Take heart and be blessed; Pastor Kevin See more

The Body of Christ Part 8 I Pledge Allegiance We are continuing our series on The Body of Christ this week as we discuss I Pledge Allegiance. Last week we spoke of the fact the we are priests of the Living God, this Sunday we will discuss the church as a holy nation. 1 Peter 2: 9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation There are 195 nations in our world today, and if you are citizen of one of them, no doubt you are filled with natio...nal pride. In many countries of the world, children are taught to be patriotic, like in the U.S. where they recite a pledge of allegiance. Our allegiance, as the church of Jesus Christ is to the Lamb. We pledge to honour Him, love and serve Him with all of our heart, mind, soul and strength. Psalm 2:10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. Our pledge to Jesus is to Serve reverently, Surrender joyfully and to Submit lovingly.
