This is fascinating! I always wonder when some people say they can't hear overtones. It just takes training. :)
You know you're missing singing barbershop together when...
More images from last night's Christmas zoom get-together, thanks to Dorothea. Along with singing chorus repertoire and learning a cute, new tag called, "2020 Almost Done," we had karaoke, performances by Synchromesh, Tim Waurick and the Ambassadors of Harmony, the Vocal Majority and even Elvis was there! :)
Great article about Ward in the Langley paper. He will be missed!
We are heartbroken to announce the passing, last night, of our member and wonderful friend, Grant Ward. Grant was a founding member of the chorus and served in many capacities, including as president. He loved to sing barbershop and always welcomed everyone with his great smile. A more detailed tribute will be added later but we want to express our condolences to his wife, Vera and all of Grant's family. RIP Grant. <3
We are so sad to announce the peaceful passing, earlier this morning of our good friend and chorus member, Jan De Baat. Jan was a 12 year member and just loved to sing barbershop! He was a fighter and absolutely shattered the doctors' expectations. He always remained positive and interested in chorus even when he could no longer attend. Our thoughts are with his wife, Meitie and their family. Jan and his wonderful smile will be missed by all! RIP, Jan. <3
Sharing these 3 great photos of Gareth Evans with his quartets, originally published in The Harmonizer.

It is with the deepest sadness that we inform you of the passing of Gareth Evans on April 19th from pneumonia and diabetes. Gareth had begun his 73rd year as a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and was a long-time member of our chorus. Our condolences to his wife, Tonia and his family. At this time, no memorial service is planned. Gareth was an experienced member and director of many choruses, winning International gold with the Toronto Dukes of Harmony Chorus in 1977 and 1980. He was also a successful quartet singer with several opportunities to compete at International, placing as high as 4th in 1954 with the Toronto Rhythmaires. Gareth was honoured by the chorus on the 40th anniversary of the BHS. We will miss him!
