It is with great sadness that we share brother Ted Clarke's tribute to Steve Clarke, one of the great early Outlanders and great friend to so many through all these years... May we offer Steve's family and friends our deepest condolences.... Rest in piece Steve...

No rest for the wicked...! Even in these COVID19 times, tree planting across Canada is running full steam ahead with lots of adaptations to normal protocols and routines.... CRITICAL UPDATE! COVID19 is forcing change in our long awaited Outland Reunion that was to happen this coming August. In line with this year's date, we will be targeting August 2021 in Toronto. (Date and Location TBA). We have been waiting so long for this, what is one more year?! Just means the early years oldies have to keep the lights on for 12 more months!! After 100 years of service to Thunder Bay, and more specifically, to Thunder Bay's Finnish community, the Hoito has again fallen on tough times. Covid19 has taken a tough situation for the iconic restaurant and made it insurmountable. Its membership has voted to liquidate. You can find Hoito at www.hoito.ca and Hoito has a FB page. Also, check this yelp site out for photos and reviews https://www.yelp.ca/biz/hoito-restaurant-thunder-bay. It still looks the same! And th...e Finnish pancakes.....! Outland planters have enjoyed the Hoito throughout Outland's entire 35 year history. It is very much part of the aura of Thunder Bay. It is hard to imagine Thunder Bay without the HOITO.... This Go Fund Me page has been launched to raise funds to help the Hoito to get back on its feet. It will be very cool if the tree planting community can show strong support.
