1st Dryden Scouting 10.06.2021

For the next 8 weeks Scouts Canada has teamed up with Survivorman to bring you some challenges that are easy to do at home, but totally Scouts-worthy! Even if you are not currently in the Scouts program, feel free to try the challenges! Each week I will post each week's video challenge. In each video Survivorman (aka Les Stroud) challenges Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to challenges at their level. This week's video is in the comments and is a food/cooking related challenge. Have... fun learning something new! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3mc332ZlYs

1st Dryden Scouting 14.05.2021

A wonderful post from our community partner, Dryden District Conservation Club: "Robert (Bob) McGillivray was a long time member of DDCC. I had the honor of picking up a cash donation from him for 1st Dryden Scouts Group. Here is a little history. Recently, while perusing Facebook, I noticed a post that the local Scout group was asking people to purchase a particular brand of coffee for which the company would contribute a portion of sales back to the Dryden Scout group. Thi...s twigged some wonderful memories of my involvement in Scouts back in the 1950’s and how this helped me in molding my life skills and career. Since I had not had an opportunity to give back, I decided that this would be the time and that a direct donation to the Dryden Scout group would be more beneficial. In doing so I had an opportunity to show off my original uniform shirt with the badges that I earned. I was successful in attaining the highest level of Queen Scout, earned 34 Proficiency badges which led to a Gold Cord and the Bushman’s Thong. I was honoured to be selected as one of the many Scouts chosen to represent Ontario at the 1955 World Jamboree at Niagara-on-the Lake and later the American Jamboree at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania 1957. I cannot say enough about the Scouting Movement and the opportunities it gives our youth. How about learning more about Scouts with the idea of getting you sons or daughters involved or just make a donation to help support our Dryden organization. It would be an investment in our youth’s future." See more
