Last Saturday three students on our baseball team were invited watch a Blue Jays game from the TD Zone! It was special to hear our students and school bring honoured on the JumboTron for National Indigenous People's Day. Go Kapapamahchakwew! Chi miigwetch to the Jays Care Foundation for this very special experience!!!!

Today Parent Council made lunch for the staff to say thank you for all of the work they do throughout the year. We had a great turnout and everyone left with smiles on their faces. Dear Staff Thank you for guiding our young ones as they grow and express and pursue. We appreciate you and all of the work you put into helping our children to see the possibilities and reach for the stars.... Miigwetch!
We started a baseball team! The highlight was definitely the playoff tournament at Rogers Center! Our season ended with 1 win, 2 ties and 4 losses and a great experience playing on a professional field! Chi Miigwetch to Jays Care for this amazing opportunity and to Ryan from Toronto Council Fire for supporting our new team! Go Kapapamahchakwew school!

Excited to finish this mammoth piece.with both walls combined is 440... feet long.if it were vertical is would stand 44 stories tall. The statue of liberty is 300 feet tall. Last night Parent Council and The Urban Indigenous Education Centre co-hosted a hand drum making workshop for parents. It was a huge success!! We had a great turnout and the evening was filled with laughter, good food, family stories, and teachings. Thank you to Josh Smoke & Thunder Jack for facilitating and to Bonnie Johnston for all the work that went into supporting this event. We hope to be able to co-organize another one next year. Miigwetch to all of the participants for coming out.
Yesterday our students had the chance to interact with NHLer Brian Trottier. He spoke about determination and the importance of balancing athletics with studies. With 7 stanley cup wins Trottier the most decorated indigenous athlete!
Last week our primary and junior chess teams competed in a chess tournament! Each student played about 6 other opponents and our students did very well winning about half of their games! Go Kapapamahchakwew!

We have started archery club for grades 3-5 (and in gym class for grades 6-8!) Chi Miigwetch to Evan and Jess for volunteering with our students!
The day before March Break our school hosted a basketball tournament with 8 teams playing 3 gyms. Fans in the stands cheered on our team to win all 7 games!! We are very proud of our students! Way to go Papamahchakwayo (Wandering Spirit) School!! From alumni students returning to referee to students who baked for the bake sale to our hip hop girls halftime show - Chi miigwetch to everyone who volunteered to make the day possible! Shout outs to DJ Akiin, Joseph from RightToPlay and Jasper from Regent Park School of Music for DJ skills; Ryan from Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre for supporting the team and Thunder from Urban Indigenous Education Centre for refereeing.
Our 3rd hockey season ended with our first competition game against another school! The game was close at 6 FNST to 7 Williamson! This was some of our students' first time playing hockey and we are very proud of them. Chi miigwetch to our co coach PJ Power all of our drivers and volunteers that made this hockey season possible.
