This Wednesday, Luke Parnell will give a free online talk about his artistic practice, past and present, and give a sneak peek of new works. Presented by the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art Luke Parnell is Wilp Laxgiik Nisga’a from Gingolx on his mother’s side and Haida from Massett on his father’s side.

Karen Plasway of Witset First Nation is creating opportunities to connect with a community of sewers and to learn new skills rooted in their culture with support from FPCC's Organizations and Collectives grant. Despite the onset of COVID-19 restrictions, Karen adjusted her sewing and quilt-making classes to keep them running as it had become integral support for participants. These activities are really contributing to the revitalization of our culture. The project is a collaboration between Amy Parent a Nisga'a researcher and assistant professor at the University of British Columbia traditional knowledge holders and hereditary chiefs of the Nisga'a Nation.
