There are some super fun changes happening in the Site 2 Toddler Room @ Winnipeg Street! Brenda observed the children enjoyed driving the cars all over the furniture so she enhanced the space with a car mat going in 2 dimensions! Great work following the leads of the children and enhancing their play and exploration, Brenda! They have also added a music area and a magnet exploration wall! Rachel and Brenda are working hard and the room is really coming together!

Children will often model their play from what they are seeing and experiencing in everyday life. A few children in Brendas group are sitting on the carpet playing with the connecting blocks. Look its the Corona Virus a child says as they hold up their structure. These things are the things that make you sick! The child exclaims as he points to the long orange pieces attached to his creation. Its going to multiply he yells as the child attaches more pieces onto the ...structure. What should we do so we dont get sick? I ask the child. Keep away from others and wash our hands! another child chimes in. It seems that the children are working through information that they have picked up throughout the months of the pandemic. This is an excellent way for the children to develop and understand their lives around them. Thank you to all our healthcare workers, educators, and parents for ensuring our children fully understand what is happening and know how to stay safe during this time.

Hi Families! Please check your Hi Mama and your childs locker for our current COVID-19 policy! Were excited for school to start even if it is a little different this year. We want to do everything we can to protect everyone in our care from the littlest babies to the grown ups too!

Courtney and Saras group at Winnipeg st. are OBSESSED with caring for their dolls! I feed him? A child asks as they hold up a doll from the dramatic play area. The children are exploring and re-enacting what they see in their everyday lives. They try on the role of their parents using the dolls to care for, just like how their parents care for them. ... The children are also in the filling and dumping stage of their development. They enjoy filling buckets or spoons with materials then watching it pour out as they tip the container over.

Hannas group at Winnipeg Street has finished their snakes! Hanna places them in an aquarium as a unique documentation method.... shocking some of the parents as they walk in! Now that she is back from holidays she is digging right back into her snake project !

Kristens group was having so much fun making a mess in an unconventional way! They had read the book Smelly Socks by a Robert Munsch, and the children were having so much fun listening to the story that she planned an activity based on the books where she had the children paint with socks on their hands ! In the book, the socks are very colourful and the main character spends her time tromping around in her new socks. The children were pretending to march their socks all over the page and exclaiming ew!! Stinky!! While I observed What a fun way to spend a morning!

Crystals toddler group showed interest in firetrucks last week, so Crystal planned activities around this topic! The children worked together to create their own fire truck using a box which they painted, and then were able to play with! She set up a table to display all the work they did on this topic on the site 1 sign in table. The children worked collaboratively as well as independently on these experiences!

Coincidentally Kendra and Whitneys groups have both expressed interest in the solar system! They have been exploring this topic in different ways, while both following our holistic program plan! Its so wonderful when we can combine the arts and sciences together in ways which are child-led and incorporate all areas of development. I have seen the children enthusiastically engaged in these activities and eager to share what they are learning.

Some of the children in Kristens group are moving on to Kindergarten in a couple of weeks. She had observed that although the children are not afraid of beginning school, they are expressing a bit of anxiety about taking a school bus. She set up an invitation table on this topic to give the children space to work out their fears and anxieties. Children use dramatic play as an emotional outlet to assist them in understanding experiences, events and scenarios that may be upsetting, stressful or exciting!

Hannas group is digging into a new Project topic today! She has observed the children in her group express interest in snakes. In order to understand what specifically the children are interested in we typically plan an experience at the start of a project to provide an opportunity for the children to show us what they know about a topic or where their interests are. Hanna planned an experience using salt dough for the children to represent their knowledge on their topic of interest. The children were creating scales, eggs and discussing that some snakes are venomous. She can now move forward in her project by pursuing these observations and discussions! We are excited to see where this project goes!

Starting September 1, 2020 our Greens location will no longer be accessible to essential services families. We will return to our pre-covid enrollment. We have been and will continue to take this pandemic very seriously. Several additional measures are being taken by staff and leadership to ensure our children and families are safe and feel welcome in our Centers.

Wow! We are super excited for all the new babies coming to our Greens families in the next year. This does mean that all of our 2021 infant spots are full! Please feel free to still add yourself to our wait list but we will only contact you if we have available spots.

Aug 4, 2020 Update- Winnipeg st still does not have phone or internet service as of 6pm tonight. If you need to contact your childs educator please call the Greens (306-359-7170)and they will pass along a message or we will contact you back. Sasktel worked all day and replaced one box and will continue to work tomorrow. As soon as we have internet we will notify everyone through Hi Mama! Aug 4, 2020- Hello Families, there was an accident on Winnipeg St this morning and the vehicle hit our Sasktel boxes and knocked out our phones and internet. No major injuries in the accident and it was not any staff or families that attend the Center. We do wish the best to the people involved. We will update as soon as possible.

Our Pride flag has been found. A little worse for wear but one of our Educators found it in the garbage on her morning walk. Truly sad. But we will continue to show our Pride no matter what. Truly saddened that it didnt even last 24 hours.

The children at Winnipeg St were each given a piece of coloured paper and encouraged to draw what love means to them. The Educators then asked them about their pictures. This turned out so beautiful
