Our local BC Dungeness Crab are sustainably trap caught along the entire coastal region of the province and are available year round. We fish locally out of Vancouver from June-November and we get our supply from other fishermen after the local season closure. The commercial crab fishery is a limited entry fishery with 220 licence eligibilities divided into seven management areas having distinct management regulations. Some of the management measures within these areas incl...ude size, sex, and hardness restrictions, seasonal closures, gear limits, gear marking and size requirements, daily fishing time restrictions and weekly haul limits. Catch is close to 100% Dungeness Crab and this fishery has fishery monitoring and catch reporting requirements to address conservation, harvest allocation, and theft issues. Dungeness Crab is easy to prepare at home. You can boil, steam, bake, or grill the crab, adding your favorite garnish or simply just dipping this local delicacy in warm butter.

Our rope grown Organic PEI Blue Mussels are farmed using some of the world's most sustainable aquaculture methods and are available year round. Our mussels are harvested the day they are shipped, arrive to you no more then 3 days after the harvest date, and are never held in tanks. Due to their freshness, when stored properly in your fridge they will last for roughly one week. The mussels are grown for approximately 2 years before harvest, and come pre-cleaned/ready to co...ok after a quick rinse and inspection. Mussels are one of the easiest seafoods to cook with many readily available recipes online. Some favorites include, the classic moules et frites, steaming them in your preferred broth or beverage, or mediterranean style as pictured below.

Here at Fishermen Select we always know exactly where our seafood comes from. Our frozen-at-sea, sashimi grade Albacore Tuna loins in stock come from the Thetis Queen. Each fish is frozen within 20 minutes of being caught to ensure its quality and freshness. We have the tuna cut into half loins for ease of use at home. We know the fishermen well and here is a shot of Aidan down in the freezer when we were helping off load the boat at the end of the season. When you purcha...se from us you are supporting local fishermen as directly as possible. You can check out the tuna and our other fishermen direct seafood at www.fishermenselect.ca
