This Weds is a town hall meeting in Sooke with the federal MP who is deputy Shadow Minister for Fisheries, to discuss the new fishing regulations.

Edited: Canadian Armed Forces Cormorant searching for a missing canoe paddler in Sooke Harbour today. Unconfirmed report that the paddler is safe. Always nice to know these guys and gals are there for us if things go from bad to worse. Thanks to you all.

Game on ... the 2018 halibut season is open as of March 1st. A great time of year to fish in Victoria and Sooke (just have to dodge the storms :-) )

For those nearby Nanaimo on Friday, you may wish to consider attending this rally, in support of recreational fishing. Conservation is a crucial for everyone -- but it's also important that recreational anglers have a voice in this, alongside the commercial sector and other groups.
