Being an ...invasive species is there a legal possession limit for both of these species? Whats this i see?? Looks like a custom made net by our friends at Legacy Net Co for our 6th annual Nanaimo Lakes Derby (June 4th to 6th) will we see you out there?? Registration is open on our website at www.fishingforfun.ca under the events tab. Camping is available as well but sites are getting scarce, Old Mill is fully booked 9 left at windy point and deadwood.

Went and picked up a new mascot today from a friends parents thrift shop. Id like to introduce to you all Harold. He will now be part of the group events and such where he can. Be sure to give him a warm welcome

Registration for the 6th annual Nanaimo Lakes derby is live and online. Go to www.fishingforfun.ca under events tab then register, fill info in and I will send off the registration package in next week. You will notice an increase in tickets this year vs past years due to rising costs sadly. However we have some amazing prizes including an engraved Island Fisherman Magazine fly reel courtesy of Island Fisherman Magazine, a Lowrance Hook 3x sounder courtesy of our friends at... The Harbour Chandler we also have many other great prizes coming in yet! Stay tuned for more info in the meantime get onto the website and register. Registration closes June 1st (some exceptions may apply)

Picked up some empties yesterday from one of our regular pick ups. Was greeted with these delicious treats!! Many thanks for the treats & the note it made my day.

Was out fishing colliery yesterday in one of the smaller spots and managed to pick all of this up within a 5ft radius of where i was fishing.... One of my biggest pet peeves is people who litter. Luckily we have a tube courtesy of our friends at ClearYourGear.ca which is where i deposited this mess to be safely recycled. Myself and a few others are working diligently behind the scenes to get one of the line tubes at our local lakes. In the meantime, if you find a bunch of improperly discarded line please pick it up and msg me when you have a chance i will add it to the tube to be recycled. Those in the Duncan area Gone Fishin' has one as you walk in the store!

Well folks its Christmas Eve 2020 what am i doing?? Thinking of what lake i wanna hit up tomorrow morning while all of you open gifts of course. Merry Christmas all hopefully the jolly ol elf gives you all the gear you bought before your other half saw the bills.

Been a great few days in the mailbox!! Checked the mail today to this! Someone nominated us for a Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce award earlier in the year. Looks as if we were a finalist! I cannot begin to thank each and every one of you nearly 2800 members who helped make this possible.

Just wanted to share with all of you amazing folks the gifts/food that will be going to our 'Christmas Angel' family. Im going to go pick up more food shortly as well from another amazing group member! Not shown is the gift card for Turkey and the fixings. Huge thanks to the boys at Gone Fishin' for putting up with us today even opening the big bay door!! Many thanks to West Coast Thumpers and Go Fish BC for their donations to the swag bag we gave away today. All in all it was a great success many many happy faces left that parking lot today.

Got our very own ClearYourGear.ca recycling tube today. We will be out at a few of the local lakes putting this to good use. Those that are swapping your line out or perhaps out for a stroll and find some shoot me a msg and I will ensure it gets sent back to manufacturer for recycling. Thank you all for doing your part.

Well folks truck is literally loaded!! We have a good selection of rods for youth and teens plus a limited amount of tackle boxes to give away. We will be set up at Duncan Gone Fishin' shop (its a beautiful store) from 10am to 2pm if we dont run out of gear prior. I'd like to take a moment to thank all of you for your ongoing support in making all that we do possible. Dont forget we also have a draw for the young ones for a thumper courtesy of our friends at West Coast Thumpers and some other goodies stuffed into a dry bag courtesy of our friends at Go Fish BC

Went out to give away our annual thanksgiving dinner to the family. This year we have a family with 5 children and two parents. With your support we were able to buy them a ham, turkey, gravy, veggies, potatoes, yams, cauliflower, bread, buns, dessert plus a few added goodies for after. Many many thanks to all of you for your continued support even during these tough times you amazing folks open up and help!

Had the pleasure of meeting up with these amazing people today (mom's photo shy/holding onto 3 tackle boxes) they were the lucky recipient of some of the donation from our friends at Rice Excavating look at those smiles!! Many thanks to Jon and the folks at rice excavating for their generosity.

Lookie what we got today!!! Our great friends at MB Signs and Design and Rooks Design (logo) Knocked it out of the park again as usual! We will be using the Fish Anatomy for events, the small fish anatomy for teachers, the logo's and rulers are available for a very reasonable cost (tbd) with all funds going back into the group.

We have just a few fishing rods to give away to local families!! We are trying to find enough empty tackle boxes to help complete these kits. We have a few tackle boxes but not enough, we are always accepting donations of new/used (working) gear to hand out to families. We also collect empties (returnable beverage containers) to help purchase the hooks, weights, insurance, hot dogs, gloves etc.

We are going to be organizing a big gear giveaway here in the next few weeks. If you know of any families looking to get out fishing let me know!! We have decided that we will allow two rods per family as we have an abundance. We request that you msg us on here with your request for gear and we will work our way through the list. This is aimed at families with kids under 16 years of age. We will do our best to accommodate everyone however we will fulfill family request first. Please specify if you want freshwater or saltwater gear (we have very limited Saltwater gear)
