Fishing for Memories

This is an announcement that we were hoping not to make, but unfortunately, the time has come to make this official. Following yesterday’s announcement by the Government of New Brunswick, we have to announce that Fishing for Memories 2020 will be unable to proceed. We were very excited to see fishing season being allowed to proceed as we are all very aware of how much fishing means to our supporters. ... Above and beyond the decision to not move forward with the event in June, we want to inform everyone that we will not be attempting to find a date later in the season, even if the restrictions ease even further. Some may ask why we would not reschedule, and the answer to that is a simple one. The vast majority of our sponsors are local businesses, many who are struggling through the reality created by the COVID-19 pandemic and it is not fair for us to go to them with our hands out looking for donations. They have been a massive factor to our success, and now it’s our turn to return the favour and help them regain stability when a more normal life returns to us all. Secondly, our anglers. Many folks are dealing with their own unique struggles brought on by the current events, and we cannot expect our anglers to in any way feel obligated to spending money they may not have. We look forward to a return to Hampstead in 2021, but unfortunately, it won’t be until then that we gather for the next Fishing for Memories event. We hope you are all staying safe throughout this ordeal, and if anyone has any questions regarding this decision, please feel free to reach out to us.

Good evening everyone. I know we’ve been quite quiet as of late, but I wanted to let everyone know that we are still here. We had been working on planning a Steak & Stein(later than usual, but our original plans were delayed by the passing of a good friend from the Buccaneer's Pub & Eatery who was key to the success of previous years events), and now with the COVID-19 situation, we will be passing on the idea of trying to reschedule it for this year. Our tournament itself i...s scheduled for June 27th, and hopefully we will all have life returning to normal before then, but we will be monitoring the situation as it develops. There are some changes that we will be announcing soon, but we can assure you that we are committed to hosting another great event as long as this pandemic has passed and we will be able to do so. ***Note*** Please remember that many of our great sponsors are local businesses that will be suffering due to this pandemic, so we are preparing to look at cash splitting as an option for prizing this year if necessary. Our sponsors have done so much for us over the years that we respect the current situation and the impact it will have on them and we will be prepared to move forward without burdening them.

Once again, our amazing friends continue to humble us. Today was our 1st annual fundraiser for the Hampstead Wharf. You don’t always need a big crowd to be a witness to VERY big hearts. We had an absolute blast on a somewhat windy day on the Saint John River, and we raised almost $900 for the wharf. Thanks to all of you who came out and showed your support, and for the amazing support from a number of people who couldn’t be there in person. ... We look forward to making this 2nd event an annual affair, so look forward to this same weekend next August as we do everything we can to ensure this great public access point to the beautiful Saint John River is maintained.

Join us on August 24th for the Fishing for Memories Hampstead Wharf Fundraiser. As many of you may know, many of our public wharves on the Saint John River now have to do fundraising to cover many of their yearly expenses. The Hampstead Wharf has been our host for 8 years now, and we are going to give a little back. Straight cash event with a 50/50 split. 50% goes back in prize money and 50% goes to the wharf. $25/person(all ages) with an optional $5 lunker pool(100% of lun...ker pool goes back to the anglers).
