HAVE YOU BEEN FIT TESTED PROPERLY? Fit testers are required to show you how to properly don and doff your N95 Mask and what to look for to make sure the mask is a NIOSH approved mask. You should have been instructed to not eat, drink or brush your teeth at least 30 minutes prior to your test.... You should have started with "The Sensitivity Test" to taste a diluted version of the sweet or bitter solution used during the actual fit testing. During the fit testing you should have been asked to do a number of different breathing techniques and movements, 7 in total, each for one minute. These will include, normal breathing, deep breathing, turning you head side to side, moving your head up and down, talking, bending over at the waist and then finally normal breathing again. During each of these 7 steps the fit tester is pumping more of the tasting solution into the hood. If you pass the fit test for your particular mask, you should NOT have tasted the solution. The solution used during the fit test is 100x stronger than the solution used for the sensitivity test so it will be obvious.
