You’ll get thrown off track, knocked down, lose your drive and feel like it’s not worth it and giving up time and time again. The faster you pick yourself up off the ground, the faster you’ll get focused again. ... It’s not about being perfect about every aspect of your process, it’s about how you deal with life’s circumstances along your journey

Are you actually IN a plateau? Are you still following the plan that brought you results in the first place? I know it's difficult to tell these days when some of us are lacking motivation due to our recent lockdown in Ottawa Or has your following the plan strayed a bit, and you’re not staying on track as well as you were in the beginning? ... I know that’s happened to me many times. I noticed I was having too many nuts, or grabbing a little this and that here and there. I’m using this language because it seems insignificant at the time but it's an accumulation over time that makes the difference. If that’s the case for you then it’s time to: Step 1: Figure out exactly when you lost focus. Step 2: Determine WHY it happened. Was it a scheduling problem? Did something personal happen? Did you struggle to make it a habit? Were you bored? etc. Step 3: Take action to address the WHY. Start planning ahead again get some new recipes change up your workouts hire a coach recruit some friends for accountability or just restart doing what you were doing before! AND . If you truly ARE following your plan and find yourself in a plateau, it’s time to tweak your plan a little to boost its effectiveness. Do you get hungry every afternoon and wonder what’s a good snack to hold you over until dinner? Ladies, you might even be feeling tired after lunch which can make you want carbs for a quick energy boost - but studies show something else is a better choice PROTEIN! ... As we get older it seems to get harder and harder to increase our daily protein. Eating more protein during the day will also help to build muscle which is something woman over 40 need to consider. Some protein ideas: spiced roasted chickpeas or edamame; hard-boiled eggs; turkey roll-ups (nitrate-free sliced turkey rolled up around carrot or celery sticks) veggies with either hummus or Greek yogurt dip (stir some dip mix into the yogurt). cottage cheese with fruit These snacks will help fill you up, keep you awake, and power you through till it’s time for your next meal. These ingredients make all the difference in taking your results from OK to great I want to share this with you because I learned the hard way. I like to be independent and figure things out on my own. I’m not saying being resourceful is not a good thing but I had to learn when to put my ego aside and accept help when I needed it. Hiring a coach not only made my life less stressful, but, I was able to reach my goals much faster. ... Two ingredients that I know for myself that I need is ACCOUNTABILITY and SUPPORT. It’s having someone to help motivate you along the way! It’s knowing someone or a group of people are in your corner. These ingredients are SUPER important, especially after a couple weeks of starting a new program, when your enthusiasm starts to wear off. Personally, I was tired of trying to figure everything out on my own. I learn so much more and I learn it quicker then I ever will relying on free content. How many times have you downloaded something to only sit in your in box? I know I have! If you haven’t reached your goals yet, or you feel stuck, this could be the reason why! If this sounds like you, try something new!... This new thing doesn’t have to be elaborate. Just do something a little different, because it can reignite the fun factor. You’re in luck check out this delicious healthy Shamrock Shake recipe, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day! 1 cup creamy oat milk 1-2 handful of baby spinach ... large frozen banana, sliced tsp pure peppermint extract Sprinkle of cacao nibs OPTIONAL: 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder OPTIONAL: cup of Greek yogurt and/or 1 tbsp honey Pour the oat milk into a high-speed blender and add the spinach. Blitz until well combined and then add the banana, peppermint extract, and optional ingredients. Blend until smooth. Pour into a tall glass over ice, and sprinkle with the cacao nibs. Yum! Happy St. Patrick’s DAY!

Are you getting tired of life being like GROUND HOG day? It’s time to SHAKE up your routine! I know it’s been challenging to change things up these days but the smallest things that I never thought twice about can now give me so much joy. ... This new thing doesn’t have to be elaborate. It can be something simple like jogging every other telephone pole during your walk, or buying an exotic fresh fruit at the grocery store. Walking with a friend you haven’t seen all winter. Just make it a little different, and it can reignite the fun factor and excitement about your healthy habits! For one of our kids birthdays we had a themed apetizer night. Each family member had to prepare their appetizer and they chose which room in the house we were going to eat it. It turned out to be a great night! What can you do today to shake things up a little?
