Fit Balanced Coaching 11.06.2021

I listened to an awesome podcast today. 3 times in fact. The third time I took some notes. It was all about weight loss, whether we should give unsolicited compliments on someone's weight loss, whether we should celebrate someone else's weight loss and whether or not we should celebrate our own weight loss. It was really good. And something I thought of while listening. As you know, my mission is to help women heal from diet culture trauma. Which, in and of itself has a... lot of grey area, a messy middle as they termed it in this podcast and, if I am not careful and forthcoming with the work I do, one would assume that I perpetuate diet culture. But, what typically gets celebrated IS THE RESULT of the JOURNEY. I am trying really hard to share the journey with you. All of it. The hard and the flow. The thoughts and the habit creation. And while some have their own opinions around what I do, what I teach and mentor as being healthy and sustainable habit changes, what someone else deals with, struggles with, thoughts and feeling toward their own weight loss or weight gain, cannot be rewritten. It is their narrative. Truth is we don't know how others perceive their journey. If someone drops a pile of weight yet is really unhealthy and engages in disordered eating and also receives a ton of positive reinforcement like wow, you look great, you look amazing, we could be perpetuating an unhealthy relationship with food or over exercising. I truly feel that unless you KNOW THE JOURNEY that someone is on, the work they are doing, the commitment, their sustainable habit changes....only then is it a time that you can celebrate others, with their permission. As for celebrating your own weight loss? HAVE FREAKING AT 'ER!! YOU know the work, the journey, the commitment, the sacrifice, the obstacles.

Want to know what I was willing to sacrifice? Working for free. Truth is, I was spending my time working on my classroom and it was wearing me down. Mentally exhausting me. I was working for free on something that was never going to repay me. So I stopped. My mental health depended on it. I was spinning my wheels holding up a system that is not my responsibility to hold up. I show up, do a damn good job and fill the gaps of my evening working on something where my pay ...is a direct reflection of the lives I help change, of the coaches who join me, who build a team of coaches who want to help others with their health and their wealth. So my mornings are early. They are for me. I journal and read, I meditate (sometimes) amd I work out. I have created a morning routine that is my sacred time. A non negotiable. And my evenings, while also playing taxi driver, cook and referee, are spent carving out time to invite you to join me, they are spent connecting with other mommas out there who need convenient at home workouts because getting to the gym is a juggle or because family freindly recipes are needed. Do you want to do this with me? What if I taught you how while also helping to hold you accountable to your health and fitness goals? What if you decided to go for it? What if you could pay the phone bill? Gas in the car? Mortgage? That legging addiction?

I was trying so hard to appear happy. I knew that showing up WAS THE BATTLE. I knew that because it's what I taught my newest coaches to do. To remember that being proof the product works is not all about weight loss and numbers on scales or sizes on tags. So, naturally, I continued to show up even though I felt like a freaking fraud. And it was hard! But the piece to focus on is the fact that the proof the product works is ALL ENCOMPASSING. It is the community and sup...port which pushed me to not give up. It was the Shakeo when I kept eating the crap but made sure to have a daily dose of superfoods. It was pressing play and modifying as much as needed while so freaking inflamed it made criss cross apple sauce difficult. It was ALL the personal development that reminded me that my worth has been with me since birth, it's not in a size. Happiness is created when you lean in and listen. Application brings transformation. The fact that there's a transformation on the outside that you can see, is a bonus. Because you don't get to experience the transformation from within unless you trust yourself enough to lean in and go for it!

Pics of meals snapped to share in a nutrition thread intended to hold myself and others accountable. But what does that even mean? How do you begin to set goals? What if you miss the mark?... What if you don't do what you set out to do? What if you go this awesome stretch of time, feeling amazing, in control, in 'flow' as I call it only to have something like, oh I don't know, Easter roll along and all of a sudden you are elbow deep in the mini eggs wondering how the hell you went "so wrong" and why the sugar addictions are back with a freaking vengeance. Does that resonate? Because I need you to know that you aren't alone and that you are one decision away from picking right up where you left off. The problem is most people dig into their kid's Easter candy, confirm the negative shit they tell themselves like I suck and this is too hard and I ruined all my progress AND INSTEAD OF picking right up where they were the day before when they were on cloud nine of confidence and pride, they quit. Don't stop showing up!!!
