NERVE FLOSSING What? Nerve flossing is an advanced technique used to increase mobility in specific areas of the body. Nerve flossing in useful for decreasing any stiffness, tightness or pain caused by entangled nerves. In the video above the nerves that run through the side of the neck are being targeted.... How? Starting in anatomical position, raise one arm creating a right angle with your upper and lower half of your limb. Have your palm facing your ear. From here straighten out your arm so it is parallel with the floor and bring the arm slightly back. Your wrist should be in line with your arm. From here bend your wrist slightly back and at the same time tilt your head away from the side that is being targeted. You should feel a stretch and possibly some tingling in the hand or fingers. Hold this position for 15 seconds. REVERSE FLY WITH BAND What? The reverse fly targets multiple muscles in the shoulders and back including the posterior deltoid, rhomboid, and middle trapezius muscles. The rhomboid muscles are the primary muscle group targeted during this exercise therefore this exercise is good for anyone trying to strengthen muscles in the upper back area and/or improve their posture.... How? When performing this exercise you should be standing with your feet and knees shoulder width apart with a slight bend in the knees. Start with the band in your hands with your arms out directly in front of you with a slightly bend in the elbows. From here, slowly move your arms posteriorly causing tension in the resistance band. At the end of this motion your body should be in the shape of a ‘T’. At the end of this motion be sure to squeeze your shoulder blades together making sure you are contracting those upper back muscles. Now return to the starting position. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps at a time. Be sure to take breaks between sets. *This video has been sped up.
