Progress sometimes is very slow and steady. Perhaps maybe frustratingly so. But because if this, when you're able to jump plateaus and see gains, it's just joy. So many have asked me why I haven't performed anything yet or pushed myself to just do something. That's because as basic as all these moves are, I set out to be able to do them in a controlled and slow manner. And that's my tunnel vision goal. I've got a very clear idea in my head what I want to look like when I do perform. And it won't be a small feat. Anyhow, I thought I'd just post this to share my progress so far. Also act as a reminder to what I need to work on going forwards and perhaps compare again down the road.

This sequence was done on a whim and inspired by @leeeannball. My body's intuition lead the way as I didn't have any idea of what I was going to do and how it was going to look. I guess there was magic in the air. Being in the moment really does have its power. I must say that this is the first time I've really appreciated my own progress with straps and have felt something viscerally from it. ... I am truly looking forward to the day I perform my first act.

In the world of social media where everything is meticulously thought out and curated to present highlights and moments of perfection, it’s extremely easy - as a viewer - to believe such a constant euphoric reality really exists. In the spirit of honesty and openness - which many of you who really know me knows that’s what I’m all about - I’d like to share this moment with you where I’m not exactly primed and ready for the camera. No filters; in every way possible. This pi...c was taken seconds after my counselling session yesterday with my therapist. It’s been years since I’ve seen her and recent events (not just covid) have really taken a toll on my mental health and well-being. Despite crying for an hour and dealing with the heaviness that comes with understanding emotions, I find myself lighter and freer at the end of it all. Last night was probably the best sleep I’ve had in 2 months. And THAT deserves a highlight even if I’m not at my finest. My message to you today is no matter what’s happening within you, find an outlet to talk and express your feelings. If seeing a therapist is not available to you, try reaching out to a close friend, a family member, anyone you trust. Just get it out and talk things through. I know when I express myself to my friends, I always feel better because just the simple act of talking helps process all the information swirling around in my head. Our mental health is constantly overlooked as we tend to focus in on other things we feel take priority such as life, work, or even others. The way I see it is if you’re not doing okay mentally and emotionally, it’s going to be that much harder to deal with what every day life has coming your way. Do yourself a favour, take care of yourself first. Like fitness training, meditation, any type of skill, you have to constantly work at it to become better and stronger. Working through your emotions and improving your mental health is no different. It’s okay to not be okay. But spend some time to figure out how you’re gonna dig your heels in and work your way through it. Keep on keeping on.

Fitness is all in the journey. It never ends and never stays the same. I spent the last year redefining what it means to me and how I connect with my body. It's definitely been a journey filled with new concepts and never ending learning. Flexibility has relatively been one of my weakest areas. A year ago I set out to improve it, mainly because my crazy goals in circus arts would eventually require it. Never thought I'd ever do a split, but here I am today. ... With my increased flexibility, I've never felt better. And I believe most of us can all invest a little more time into it ourselves. If you're looking to start and aren't exactly sure how, or looking for new ways to change things up, direct message me for training info.
