Cell Hell The cell phone has socially engineered us into unnatural, unhealthy daily behaviors. No need to get into specifics because I’m certain we’re all aware of the countless downsides of being glued to a cell phone. Ever increasingly people are bombarded with TMI and it’s vital to set aside time to defrag the brain. I guide my students to modify certain daily patterns to better help establish a state of peaceful happiness. When this is done successfully, it creates the s...imilar changes people notice when they clean up their diet and begin to feel better. Fitness 101 Tip: Use your cell phone the same amount that you would have used a rotary phone back in 1973. Call person to person rather than texting, make every use of the phone intentional and with reason. Stop surfing on your phone. Try it for a weekend. http://fitness101.ca

Wednesday Wisdom from Jack LaLanne ... MUSCLES ARE BEAUTIFUL AND USEFUL I have always trained. ... I love it. I never miss a workout. Today many people spend their spare time watching TV from the soft surrounding of a bed or couch. This is an invitation to lethargy, and when they partner this laziness with eating of junk food, they’re practically inviting a heart attack in middle or later years. Exercise could almost be called nature’s cure-all. It’s amazing in its powers. Exercise helps you increase your energy, it cleans out your arteries, improves your posture, increases your mobility, adds muscle and tone, improves strength, builds confidence, burns fat, strengthens bones, hypes your metabolism, augments your flexibility, strengthens your immune system, and shapes your body like nothing else in the world. Hey, you become a more attractive person in every way when you exercise regularly. Even your arteries will thank you. I am a great admirer of the late Winston Churchill. His rousing speeches in time of World War II gave the British people the confidence to stay on course and ultimately prevail against Hitler. But I am most definitely not an advocate of Churchill’s oft-quoted line: When I feel the urge to exercise, I lie down until the feeling goes away. Exercise has been my savior. It has got me to 95 years of age. It has kept me free of disease and make me feel on top of the world ever since I adopted it in my teens. Sometimes you may feel too tired to exercise. We all have moments like that, especially after a long day at the office. Obviously if we are genuinely ill or exhausted then we might have to miss a planned workout, but in most cases one’s tiredness is little more than a temporary situation and one that can be immediately changed with a little exercise. Drag yourself to the gym or wherever you exercise and start on something simple. Soon, as your blood starts to circulate, you will be rarin’ to go for a full-scale all-out workout.
