So today marks 22 years since I quit drinking and drugging. It’s been a crazy ride but I just try to put one foot ahead of the other and try my hardest not to live in the past. I feel really good with where i am at in my life. My wife Katie has been nothing short or amazing because I have been hard to live with! My 2 girls who make me proud every single day and they make me grateful I quit partying !!! So if you’ve never heard my story or want to hear some of the old stories just ask!!!!! I am always looking for an opportunity to tell anyone who wants to listen! Cheers to today.
So today was an Interesting day for me. As you are aware I was diagnosed with depression a while ago and today really showed me why I will always need medication to manage myself. I woke up and was feeling edgy, a feeling all too common for me in the past, and I could really tell it was starting to affect me. Now In the past I would have most Likely picked a fight with someone to relieve my feelings that were brewing inside me. It’s so cool to be able to to recognize ...that mostly because the person I would pick a fight With was katie and she never ever deserved that. So today I just left and went to the gym. I’m halfway through my workout and I can’t tell you how much better I am feeling right now! Two big takeaways for me from today are 1. I am responsible for my headspace and my feelings and it’snot anyone else’s job to fix that. It’s not anyone’s job to take anger from me. 2. Exercise is medication. This isn’t me pumping up my gym or whatnot. Exercise plays such a huge role in our overall wellness!!!!!
So apparently June 8th is the date set for gyms to reopen!!!!! Stay tuned with more !
Thanks for that heather !!!
A doctor on tv the other day said that when this Is settled individuals will come to understand why health care professionals emphasize eating well, exercising,...keeping your weight down and overall choosing a healthy lifestyle as so important. Sometimes ( maybe all the time really)our body is our tool for survival. Your job is to make the best out of what your given. I would like to add in that your mental and spiritual well being is also part of that equation. We all have choices to make we need to do the very best we can for ourselves and support those around us. Even those dealt a difficult hand in terms of their health can still continue to make the best choices they can. Be good to your body and mind today. Be kind. See more
A big shout out to @lbdistillers for the sanitizer! Support these guys cause they are doing amazing things in our city !!!!!!
The most commonly named stressors in peoples lives are juggling schedules, running errands, commuting, social media, and household tasks such as cooking and cleaning. These however are normal and expected parts of life but we treat them as if they are unreasonable impositions, keeping our lives from how they really should be. The book The Upside of Stress has been fascinating so far. It really does matter how we view stress and if we don’t view stress as this awful horrible thing that is going to kill us then we are better off! Stop treating everyday stress like the things listed above as horrible and awful. Stress is a part of your life and whether you think your life is more stressful then anyone else’s doesn’t matter. How you view that stress is what matters ! #truth #stress #stressisgood
Benefit of having a gym. Tunes are pumping. For anyone wanting workouts for home just message me!
With all this crazy stuff happening in the world I wanted to share a little bit of a hopeful message. I am sitting here trying to take in what the heck is going on in our world and the one thing I keep thinking about is gratitude. I am so incredibly full of gratitude for where I am at in my life. If this outbreak would have happened 2 years ago I would be in such a dark place! Getting the right diagnosis and an effective treatment have made the world a brighter place. I... know we will get through whatever it is that’s happening to us. My life has become better because of depression. I would still be lost and in such despair in times like these if it wasn’t for my depression. Today I celebrate my mental illness because I am at a point in my life that embracing things and seeing every challenge as an opportunity to grow has really helped my perspective.
So a quote from the book I’m reading. When you face difficulties head on, instead of trying to avoid or deny them, you build your resources for dealing with stressful experiences. You become more confident in your ability to face life’s challenges. You create a strong network of social support. Problems that can be managed get taken care of, instead of spiraling out of control. Situations you can’t control become opportunities to grow. Wow that’s powerful stuff.
This is my newest read. Just part way in and it’s already an amazing read. How to turn stress into something into something healthy. It’s amazing what we can do if we use positive beliefs about things. How we view stress is as important or maybe more important then how we deal with it. Recommend everyone read this ! #stress #stressisgood #embracestress #saskatoon #saskatoongyms
coach tip: so you are 3 years into coaching, now have a podcast, "success", and are teaching folks how to "scale it" online; stop it! - go back to teaching peop...le, in person, how to move, towards autonomy, for another 10-15 years - then come back and attempt to teach others the "good word" - we need better craftspersons in fitness coaching - not technician to perceived master jumpers; and ironically you will be more efficient when you come back and actually make sense See more
