The direct costs of diabetes to the Canadian health care system are estimated at $3.8 billion annually. Since diabetes and other chronic diseases share many risk factors, 36.5% of Canadian adults with diabetes reported having two or more other serious chronic conditions. COVID-19 has been shown to hit people with chronic diseases harder. Regular physical activity and appropriate follow-up by a fitness professional are once again the preferred solutions to prevent many health complications.

Comme le diabète et d'autres maladies chroniques partagent plusieurs facteurs de risque, 36,5 % des adultes canadiens atteints de diabète ont affirmé être atteints d'au moins deux autres maladies chroniques graves. FIC conducted a reopening survey of our member clubs across the country. Across Canada, out of the 20 MILLION+ workouts since fitness facilities reopened in April, there has been a 0.001% rate of transmission from our member clubs.
