#Repost @meowmeix Which burger(s) would you choose? . Personally, I’m a grass-fed beef or black bean burger kinda gal. .... I wanted to clear something up. Just because a brand is labeled meatless or things like gluten free or non-gmo doesn’t automatically mean it’s the healthier, more nutritious choice. The fake meatless choice is more of a personal ethical choice as quality meats have their own set of benefits . Now, there’s a reason beyond burger and the impossible burger have those names, because there’s no way you can recreate meat from plants without all kinds of crazy processing, questionable ingredients and extra additives. . That doesn’t mean you can’t have it as a tasty treat especially if you fall in the vegan or vegetarian camps. I think it’s a great option if you need that while you’re out and about but it’s not something I would choose every day health wise. . If you’re looking at what would be a better choice on a regular basis, something like a homemade black bean burger would be more nutritious and minimally processed. I personally thought the homemade recipe I used was delicious . Lastly, if you’re like me and like to incorporate meats into your diet, I try to opt for grass-fed beef and pasture raised animals when I can because it’s better for us . Either way I respect your choice. I just want to make sure you’re making the informed decision! . xx Amanda . . . . . #healthyeating #nutrition #cleaneats #mealprep #foodprep #fitfood #protein #weightloss #mealplan #paleo #healthychoices #mealprepsunday #healthyfood #mealprepping #macros #mealprepmonday #flexibledieting #iifym #instahealth #plantbased #glutenfree #vegetarian #meals #healthyliving #healthylifestyle See more

#Repost @meowmeix What milk is your favorite? . With so many milks on the market all claiming they are healthier than the rest, it can be hard to navigate which on this the best fit for you! Did you know that 65% of the adult population is lactose intolerant? This can lead to a lot of digestion and skin issues for some people who consume diary, especially non-fermented forms of dairy (fermented forms = Greek yogurt, Kefir, cottage cheese). Lactose intolerance also... really depends on your genetics. For example, Only 5% of people of northern European descent are lactose intolerant vs. up to 90% of people from East Asian descent are lactose intolerant. . That’s why it’s a beautiful thing that there are so many different milk alternatives on the market today. Below I’m breaking down the pros and cons each milk. Special shoutout to @kids.eat.in.color for very much inspiring this post. My post is more targeted at the pros & cons for adults but check hers out for children recommendations. . Almond milk pro: low in calories, contains vitamin E, lactose free con: low in protein . Cashew milk - pro: good source of fiber, full of iron, low In calories, lactose free Con: low in protein . Coconut milk - pro: low in calories, contains potassium, lactose free con: low in protein . Dairy milk - high in protein, higher in calcium cons: higher in sugar & not good for people with a lactose intolerance. Also, U.S. dairy is pasteurized so it loses some of its beneficial nutrients and enzymes. . Soy milk - pro: high in protein, vitamin D & B12, lactose free con: not good for those w allergies and who already have an estrogen dominance/too much estrogen in their system. . Oat milk - pro: nut/soy/lactose free, helps lower cholesterol and aids digestive health Cons: can be higher in sugar & carbs . With all this mind, remember to opt for the unsweetened versions when you buy them at the store! See more

With Manitoba's Pandemic and Economic Roadmap for Recovery we are considered to reopen in the "Future Phases" category which means we do not have a reopen date. Phase 2 is to start no earlier than June 1 so we will be sometime after that if all goes well. Sorry for the bad news. I can't wait to see you all back when we reopen! Stay healthy! At least we can be active outside with this nice weather!

Fitness Resolution 11.04.2020

The closure has been extended another 2 weeks. Earliest possible reopen date will be April 28th but that could also be pushed back again. Will keep everyone updated! Enjoy time with your family and stay healthy!
