Once upon a time, there was a king who was very lazy. He did not like to do anything. He waited for his attendants to serve him every moment. He used to always lie on his bed. Only eating food and sleeping made him fat. He was so fat that he could not move around by himself. He felt sick. Doctors were called in to treat him. Nothing could help him to become fit and fine. The king was a kind-hearted and cordial person. All his subjects were sorry to learn that their king was ...not well. One day the minister met a holy woman on the outskirts of the city. While conversing with each other, the woman came to know that the king was unwell. She told the minister that she could cure the king. Hearing this, the minister’s face brightened. He arranged immediately for a meeting of the holy woman and the king. The woman saw the depressed king for a while and told the king nothing serious had happened and that the king would be alright. From the next day onwards, the treatment would start. She asked the king to come to her hut which was at a distance from the palace, but the king had to come on foot. The king agreed. After so many years of lazing around in the palace, the king went outside to walk on the road. His ministers and attendants accompanied him. By the time the king reached the woman’s hut, he was breathless, sweating and feeling extremely uncomfortable. The woman came out of the hut and offered cool water to the king. Then the woman brought out an iron ball, the size of a football and instructed his majesty to roll that ball in the palace grounds every morning and evening. The king agreed to the woman’s instructions and left. After thirty days, the woman came to the palace to meet the king and found that he had lost a considerable amount of weight and was feeling much better. The king's sickness had also disappeared. Get up and get moving. You can do it. Need accountability - message me I will help.

{Spine} @fitomizefitness "If you would seek health, look first to the spine. -Socrates... The spine is one of the most important parts of the body. It provides structure and support, and without it, you would not be able to stand up, let alone keep yourself upright. The spine acts as a ‘protective casing’ for the spinal cord which is the information pathway that sends information from the brain to the rest of the body. To create a more mobile and healthy spine (better functioning), we need to be is able to move in a variety of different directions. We need to flex (bending forwards), twist, extend (bending backwards), and rotate to accomplish daily tasks and activities. In fact there are 5 different movements the spine should be able to do. But for today’s post I want to focus on 2 -flexion (forward) and extension (backward). To flex is to decrease the angel between body parts. Flexing your muscles usually results in bringing the bones attached closer together. Extension is simply the opposite. Flexion is very common in every day life for most of us. Gravity and daily activities such as sitting at the computer, driving, and carrying children have a tendency to pull the spine forward into flexion (hunching). You may not notice you have a hunched spine until it becomes painful or you get hurt. In addition to affecting your appearance, spinal flexion can contribute to postural imbalances such as scoliosis and injuries such as disc herniation (ouch!). Extension may be one of the most important types of movements you do simply because of how much time you spend in flexion. It is important to keep the upper back muscles strong and the spine moving into extension to prevent/counteract gravity and repetitive movements to improve posture as well as avoid injuries. Your spine is vital to almost everything you do in life but please keep in mind that not all exercises may be for you. If you experience back pain during flexion or extension, I recommend speaking to a professional! What’s your fave spine move?
