Repost from last Spring because you need to try these chicken burgers if you normally buy them... My favourite homemade chicken ‘burger’ Lettuce wraps are a great substitute for the traditional bun if you’re looking to reduce carbs.... 1 lb ground chicken or turkey 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1/3 small onion, chopped 1 egg, beaten 3 Tbsp mayonnaise 1/2 cup large flake oats Cook onion in a little olive oil until soft. Combine onion with all remaining ingredients in a large bowl and shape into 6 patties. Grill on BBQ (ideally...if not, oven or electric frying pan will work) Make a bunch as they’re great reheated for busy days when you’re on shift. #fittoserve #fittoserveonlinetraining #firstresponderfitness #bestchickenburger #mealprep #lettucewrap #bbq #mealprep #shiftworkmeals

Running Tip - work on your mental game What do all successful athletes have in common? Mental toughness. Physical training is absolutely crucial but working on the mental aspect of training is also very important. It's 'easy' to talk ourselves into stopping on a run. We are very good at convincing ourselves that we've done a good job and it's just too challenging and that a walk or stopping is in order. Or maybe it's during a workout such as the 'finishers' we give clients f...or the end of a strength workout. You will certainly need to rest here and there in some long workouts but how often are you resting? And for how long? I was reminded of this during a long challenging workout this week. The entire workout was done with a weight vest and there are a couple runs between other movements. I decided that I was going to run at my regular 8-10 km pace for the runs as it was shorter but had the added weight and a lot of reps of other movements. I wanted to slow my pace down. Nobody was watching. Nobody would know if I slowed my speed. It was a gruelling workout and I probably 'deserved' to slow the speed? These were the things going through my mind. Then I thought of each of you. What would I tell you? Push through. Don't give in. Keep going. You've got it and you're stronger than you think. In only one mile you’re finished one run. Finish it. So I kept running at the same pace and I'm very glad I did. Mental toughness is a lifelong process but if you can say you're mentally stronger in workouts now than you were a year ago, a month ago, a week ago, you're doing well. Keep going. So thank you to each of you. You truly kept me going. When you're in the deep part of a workout or run remember why you're doing it. Remember those who are cheering you on. Practice this mental toughness in both your running and strength workouts and this will considerably help your shuttle run and other fitness testing. Train your body and mind to push through when all you want to do is lay on the ground. You can do that, but not till the task is finished. #fittoserveonlinetraining #fittoserve #firstresponderfitness #policerecruit #firerecruit #paramedicrecruit #mentaltoughness
