Happy Administrative Assistant day to our lovely Ms. Ellis! Ms. Ellis joined our family this school year and it feels like she’s always been a part of us! We are so grateful for all that you do and we were there to celebrate you!
Ms. Schiavone and Ms. Pellegrino’s grade 1 class have had an exciting few days watching Ms. Pellegrino’s chicks hatch. The students brainstormed ideas for names and it was decided that the first chick to hatch would be crowned with the winning name. This past Monday the first chick emerged from its shell and was dubbed Lil’ Schiavone! Some of the runner up names included Chunk, Pikachu, Ronald and Easter! The grade 1 class is looking forward to watching the chicks grow into hens/roosters and we may even have a visit from the fluffy little celebrities in a couple of weeks once we have returned to in-person learning!! Yay!
Our grade 2’s had some fun with their own spirit week last week! Check out these fun pictures.
The Grade 1/2 class went on a field trip to Valley Fair as part of their inquiry on roller coasters. They explored the amusement park and decided to design their own roller coasters. They read books and wrote a description of their roller coasters. Some of the favourite rides were the upside down roller coasters and the swings.

Our JK/SK class spent sometime getting creative with The Three Billy Goats Gruff! They built some really impressive bridges and made some edible trolls to snack on!
Dear Parents/Guardians, As we prepare for next week's school closure we need to know if your child requires a device for learning. If in need of a device, please call the school today at 767-1411 and leave a brief message stating your child's name and grade. More information will follow regarding device pickup on Monday, January 4th; however, only those families who respond to this message will have a device prepared for them. We hope you are all staying healthy during this ...holiday season. Wishing you Health & Happiness in 2021! Sincerely, Mrs. L. Nutley, Principal See more
Some important information just released by our school board regarding the extended closure. Please read over.
Pyjama day, the end to a crazy fun week! My apologies for not getting pictures of crazy hair day yesterday, the day got away from me with the door decorating contest! We the staff of Five Mile wish all of our Falcons and their families a safe and happy holiday! We look forward to seeing all your happy faces in the new year!
Dear Parents/Guardians, As we move into the season of winter driving we ask that we all work together to ensure the safety of all our students. In order to keep traffic moving as quickly as possible in our Kiss and Go line please adhere to the following: Enter Ada Avenue via Government Road only No Right Turns to enter the Kiss and Go Exit the Kiss and Go by making a Left Turn only onto Ada Avenue towards Dawson Road (no right turns to exit the Kiss and Go)... Please pull forward to the blue pole and have your children ready to unload quickly as any delay holds up the entire line. We should be able to load/unload four vehicles at a time Please exit the Kiss and Go slowly when directed by staff We are currently waiting on new signage but ask that you please be patient and respectful as we work together for our students and school community. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the office to bring them to my attention. Sincerely, Mrs. L. Nutley See more
This week the staff and students took part in a door decorating contest. Everyone did an amazing job and had a blast decorating! The winners were Ms Schiavone and Ms MacArthur’s grade one class in the primary hall and Mr Fox’s grade four class in the junior/intermediate hall! Excellent job everyone!
Hats, hats, everywhere hats! Hat day is one of our most popular spirit days and it really shows in these pictures! Tomorrow is crazy hair day!!
Happy ECE Appreciation Day to our ECE’s!! Have a great day!
Today was ugly/holiday sweater day! There were a lot of really awesome sweaters, shirts and dresses! Keep it up Falcons, tomorrow is hat day!
Happy bus driver appreciation day!!! We are so grateful for our amazing drivers who deliver precious cargo to us in all types of weather!
Tips for helping us keep the kiss and go quick and efficient! 1) If you are first in line, pull up to the blue post where a staff member is calling you forward. While waiting, pull right up behind the person in front of you. This allows us to unload/load 4 vehicles at a time. 2) Keeping your goodbye short and sweet ensures students arrive to class on time. If children need assistance getting in the building or to their classroom we are always happy to bring them. 3) Please be considerate of other vehicles trying to pull into the parking lot, we have vehicles approaching from both Government Road and Dawson Road. Thank you for your continued patience.
Information for Falcon families
Ms. Wilson’s grade 5/6 class was busy harvesting the vegetables from the school garden and turning all that goodness into a delicious soup! Some of the vegetables will be donated and made into soup for the Dew Drop Inn!
Attention North 95 passengers, here is some good news!
