Today we woke up to a blanket of fresh snow, and the whole city looked like a fairy tale.

A bittersweet trip to Poland meant I spent most of February with family. I found a little time to revisit old haunts, spending precious hours in the heart of Warsaw. I can never get enough of the Warsaw Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, meticulously rebuilt after near-total destruction during World War II. Even though I've been coming here since I was a kid, to this day, every doorway, every gate, and every arch, feels like a new adventure.

I love that even with the whole world at our fingertips, I can still be surprised by a new way of seeing it. Very cool idea and execution by photographer Xavi Bou.

2018: TBD Happy New Year, friends! Every day is a new day, but there is something about the new year that lends itself to thoughts of change, of what is possible.... 2017 was a difficult year, one that I'm happy to see the end of, and throwing up my perfectly blank calendar felt like a relief. The days aren't truly blank; they're filled with hope.

Today - the shortest day of the year - used to be my least favourite day. It wasn't until I realized that every day after today would be a little longer, a little brighter, that I came to embrace it. Happy winter solstice, everyone!
