Meditation is not a posture. Meditation is a state within you. Sitting in Oblivion: The Heart of Daoist Meditation by Livia Kohn... ABOUT THIS BOOK This book is an expansion of Seven Steps to the Dao. It outlines the history and intricacies of zuowang (Sitting in Oblivion), an essential form of Daoist meditation. It divides into two parts. "Discussion" begins by placing the practice in the larger context of the phenomenology of meditation and Chinese religious history. It then has eight chapters, discussing historical forerunners in pre-Han and Twofold Mystery texts, Tang masters and main works, the theory and practice of Tang Daoist meditation, and its relation to Buddhism. #meditation #awareness #qi #chaqi #teaspirit #teameditation #teaceremony #meditationpractices #spiritualpath #teawisdom #teaculture #wayoftea #health #mind #spirit #dao #fivetastes #taoism #sittinginoblivion #daoistmeditation #zuowang #wayoflife #teaaslife

Just a simple shelf Hanging from the corner wall By a plain bamboo. All we need in such a world Are these artless simple things.... If you have one pot And can make your tea in it That will do quite well. How much does he lack himself Who must have a lot of things? When you hear the splash Of the water drops that fall Into the stone bowl You will feel that all the dust Of your mind is washed away. Sen no Rikyu (; 1522 1591) is considered the historical figure with the most profound influence on the Japanese tea ceremony. #zen #fivetastes #qi #meditation #teaspirit #teaceremony #tea #balance #health #mind #spirit #wayoflife #teaaslife #artoftea #cha #chadao #thewayoftea #spiritoftea #purity #awareness #qi #chaqi #teameditation #spiritualpath #teawisdom #teaculture #wayoftea #harmony #buddhism #tealife

Five Tastes Traditional Tea recommends: MEDICAL SCIENCE A Review of the Role of Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) in Antiphotoaging, Stress Resistance, Neuroprotection, and Autophagy https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6412948/... Published online 2019 Feb 23. doi: 10.3390/nu11020474 Mani Iyer Prasanth, Bhagavathi Sundaram Sivamaruthi, Chaiyavat Chaiyasut, and Tewin Tencomnao Abstract Tea is one of the most widely consumed beverages worldwide, and is available in various forms. Green tea is richer in antioxidants compared to other forms of tea. Tea is composed of polyphenols, caffeine, minerals, and trace amounts of vitamins, amino acids, and carbohydrates. The composition of the tea varies depending on the fermentation process employed to produce it. The phytochemicals present in green tea are known to stimulate the central nervous system and maintain overall health in humans. Skin aging is a complex process mediated by intrinsic factors such as senescence, along with extrinsic damage induced by external factors such as chronic exposure to ultraviolet (UV) irradiationA process known as photoaging. ... Green tea phytochemicals are a potent source of exogenous antioxidant candidates that could nullify excess endogenous ROS and RNS inside the body, and thereby diminish the impact of photoaging. Several in vivo and in vitro studies suggest that green tea supplementation increases the collagen and elastin fiber content, and suppresses collagen degrading enzyme MMP-3 production in the skin, conferring an anti-wrinkle effect. ... Apart from this, green tea has been reported to have stress resistance and neuroprotective properties. Its ROS scavenging activity makes it a potent stress mediator, as it can also regulate the stress induced by metal ions. It is known that tea polyphenols can induce the expression of different antioxidant enzymes and hinder the DNA oxidative damage. Growing evidence suggests that green tea can also be used as a potential agent to mediate neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease. ... Additionally, green tea polyphenols induce autophagy, thereby revitalizing the overall health of the organism consuming it. Green tea was able to activate autophagy in HL-60 xenographs by increasing the activity of PI3 kinase and BECLIN-1. This manuscript describes the reported anti-photoaging, stress resistance, and neuroprotective and autophagy properties of one of the most widely known functional foodsgreen tea.

Five Tastes Traditional Tea recommends: MEDICAL SCIENCE Protocol for Minimizing the Risk of Metachronous Adenomas of the CoLorectum with Green Tea Extract (MIRACLE): a randomised controlled trial of green tea extract versus placebo for nutriprevention of metachronous colon adenomas in the elderly population Julia C Stingl, Thomas Ettrich, ... Rainer Muche, Martina Wiedom, Jürgen Brockmöller, Angela Seeringer & Thomas Seufferlein BMC Cancer volume 11, Article number: 360 (2011) Cite this article https://bmccancer.biomedcentral.com//10./1471-2407-11-360 Abstract Prevention of colorectal cancer is a major health care issue. People who have undergone colonoscopy screening and had colorectal polyps removed have a higher risk of being diagnosed with polyps again compared to the normal population. Therefore, it would be ideal to find appropriate means that effectively help to prevent the reoccurrence of polyps after polypectomy. So far, pharmaceutical chemoprevention with NSAIDs including aspirin has been shown to be effective but not gained general acceptance due to side effects. Nutraceuticals such as polyphenols from tea plants have demonstrated remarkable therapeutic and preventive effects in molecular, epidemiological and clinical trials.

THE ART OF LIVING: PEACE AND FREEDOM IN HERE AND NOW Thich Nhat Hanh (Author), Edoardo Ballerini (Narrator), Gabra Zackman (Narrator), HarperAudio (Publisher) 2017 Unified Buddhist Church, Inc. (P)2017 HarperCollins Publishers... In troubled times there is an urgency to understand ourselves and our world. We have so many questions, and they tug at us night and day, consciously and unconsciously. In this important volume, Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh - one of the most revered spiritual leaders in the world today - reveals an art of living in mindfulness that helps us answer life's deepest questions and experience the happiness and freedom we desire. Thich Nhat Hanh presents, for the first time, seven transformative meditations that open up new perspectives on our lives, our relationships, and our interconnectedness with the world around us. Based on the last full talks before his sudden hospitalization, and drawing on intimate examples from his own life, Thich Nhat Hanh shows us how these seven meditations can free us to live happy, peaceful, and active lives and face ageing and dying with curiosity and joy and without fear. Containing the essence of the Buddha's teachings and Thich Nhat Hanh's poignant, timeless, and clarifying prose, The Art of Living provides a spiritual dimension to our lives. This is not an effort to escape life or to dwell in a place of bliss outside of this world. Instead this path will allow us to discover where we come from and where we are going. And, most of all, it will generate happiness, understanding, and love, so we can live deeply in each moment of our lives, right where we are.
