Flat Track Racing #9

Yesterday I woke up to the news that we lost Ben, he was the type of guy to do anything for anyone. I knew I had to carry on his legacy and Id like to dedicate my first pro win last night to my buddy that was watching over me all night. Thanks for everything Benny you will be missed by many. I hope you see all the posts, comments, conversations and good deeds people are doing to show their appreciation to you. You changed so many lives in such little time, I hope one day we meet again.

Felt confident all day at Welland finishing 1st in my 450 heat and 3rd in my Open. Went into mains hoping for a podium in 450 but ended up timing my start perfect and started pulling away to win my first Expert race! Then a 5th in open struggling through the bumps. Thanks so much to everyone thats believed in me turning pro and being behind me no matter how I finish. Great night at round 2 on the @yamahamotorcanada Sehl Racing 450s. The new 2019 was working awesome but struggled to get power to the ground resulting in a bad heat race then a tough main which left me with an 8th overall. The j&m framed YZ450F was a different story though. Had a decent heat race which put me 2nd row for the main and I got a great start. Was flying through traffic passing guys left and right but got stopped in 6th as the laps were cut short . Always a good time at Welland now onto Leamington in July. Good weekend in Trois-Rivires Quebec on the super fast Sehl Racing, Yamaha Canada bikes. Had a strong start to the day qualifying 5th and 3rd but struggled in the mains. Finished 7th in DTX and after being dead last in open after a crazy start worked my way up to 9th. Onto round 2 in Welland on June 8th. Near perfect weekend at Oshweken! Saturday I won both my heat races and then felt very good in the mains. Checked out and won my DTX and OPEN finals! Sunday was my first ever TT and I struggled a bit but still finished 2nd in both heats. Then in the DTX main I was in a group of 4 battling and slowly got into 2nd and started gaining on the leader. Then the leader wiped out and I hung on for the win! In OPEN I got a shitty start and just couldnt get by anyone and ended up 4th. Wanna give a big big thank you to Jimmy Sehl for all the help hes given us to get our bikes dialled in! Also wanna thank MTO metal products, Tool And Cutter, @motogearusa , Ben Else, Clayton Isherwood and the whole T2 #9 race team!

Round 4 in Welland was awesome!! Started off really bad struggling to find what was wrong with the yellow bike. Me, Ted and mainly my dad worked all day trying to find what was wrong and tried almost everything but just couldnt find it. Got 1st and 2nd and my heats and then completely changed my setup because I knew the high line was gonna work! Ended up 2nd in my DTX final behind Hunter who was flying! Then in my Open I got a good start, made some quick passes and checked out riding the hardest and fastest I think I ever have. Awesome weekend at Oshweken Speedway. Finished 5th in my DTX main and won the 2017 Intermediate DTX championship! Then thanks to Kurt Biegger for having an awesome tire ready to go, we threw it on for the Open main in hopes that I could clinch the championship. Started on the second row in the main and was already in about 4th after the first turn. Made my way into 2nd place and almost crashed moving me back to third behind the man I had to beat Luke Rahm. Made my way around ...Luke after a hard fought battle and was making up time on first but just didnt have time to catch him. Losing the Open championship by 1 point. Had an amazing year and gotta give a huge thanks to everyone that was behind me this year. Awesome night at Welland county speedway, track was probably the best its been all year and super tacky allowing me to run the higher line that I love to run there. Got a good start in my 450 main but was pushed off the groove multiple times and almost wiped out about 3 times by other riders, ended up going from 6th to almost the win but ended up 2nd. Then in the open main had an awesome and clean battle with Matty Ward and Josh Dolan. I was sitting in third waiting for them... to slip up and when they did I went in underneath them but ended up loosing traction on exit so came out in 2nd and then last lap made the pass to first running the outside but ended up just slipping off the groove allowing ward to take the win. Round 6 at London went really good for me and the KBR team. Won the DTX main and had a really good battle in the open main and ended up 2nd. And for the first time Hunter, Brodie and I all 3 450 DTX classes! Round 2 of the FTC series at welland was pretty good had horrible starts in my heat races and couldnt get around anyone. Started from 2nd and 3rd row and made my way up to a 7th place finish in my DTX race and 8th in my Open race. Finally got my starts good and learned tons. Good learning day at welland, took a 4th in my first heat, Made some changes then won my next heat. Started on the 2nd row in the DTX main and was in 2nd after the first 2 laps and stayed there for the rest of the race almost grabbing the lead. Then in the Open made another rookie mistake and stalled it on the line, but I got it started and finished the race. Great first race on the new KBR Honda 450, struggled getting used to the bike in practice and heats but got it together for my mains finished 3rd place in DTX. Then in my Open final had to slam on brakes to avoid running into another rider and had to hold them so long I ended up stalling the bike. Then started it up and caught up and passed about 4 riders ending up about 12th. Hoping my teammate Hunter Bauer will be back racing again soon after a bad crash. What a great way to end the 2016 season with 2 2nd place finishes on the Corbeil racing 2014 Yamaha!!! Unfortunately I couldnt run the Ted Townsend Yamaha because we had a last minute problem before my heat race. Awesome day at leamington on Saturday!!! Had the bike running super fast and won both my heats. Then in the dtx main I got a bad start and was sitting 5th for a couple laps but got into 4th rode the high line and went around 3 guys in 1 turn then held on and grabbed the win! In the open race I was only 2 points ahead of Jarrett Phibbs. I got a good start and was right behind him then we battled the whole race last lap I pulled out underneath him on the front straight and came... out of the turn in the lead then drove it in high and dropped down after he went by then got a huge drive and got by him and won by just under a bike length! Probably the best battle Ive ever had. Last nights race at Paris I decided to run my 250 in the novice and intermediate/expert race. In the novice heats I got two seconds making me first pick in the main got a good start right behind Bruce, then was right on him and made a bad decision to drive it in hard and hit him and high sided. Got bad road rash but I got up and on the staggered restart went all the way from the back to a 2nd place finish in 4 laps. Then went right to the expert main event finished 3rd and 4th in my heats and then got 3rd pick for my main got a bad start but made my way up to a 3rd place finish after a bad crash. Really happy after Sundays race. In practice I felt really good on the 250 and 450 and in the heats I got 2 2nds and both really close finishes. In my 450 final I got a really good start and was battling for the lead but after the restart I couldnt keep up but finished 2nd and felt really good for my first race on it. Then got on the 250 for my final and got a really good start getting out of turn 2 in second then had an awesome battle with Hunter, who hung on to second after a bunch of really bad speed wobbles.
