Life is challenging. Not just now, but always. It’s a new kind of challenging right now, a kind none of us were prepared for.... Every single day that I log on to Zoom I am impressed by my students. Their adaptability, their perseverance, and their ability to keep pushing forwards when EVERYTHING is changing. This is what keeps me going. When I have a headache and can’t imagine looking at a screen for another minute, when I have to change all my lesson plans again and again, when exams/competitions/shows etc gets cancelled...its my students who keep me going and remind me why it’s worth it. To my students who have not joined me on Zoom, I am always here for you. Wether or not I’m seeing you regularly right now, know that you are still in my mind. I know you are doing what you can right now, and I’m not upset if that doesn’t include Zoom. I’m here for you always, and I hope to see you soon. I never thought being a dance teacher would look the way this photo does. Me alone in a studio wearing a pop star microphone, stretching in front of a TV. But here we are...and I’ll do it everyday if it means I get to keep dancing with you guys.

I am so grateful to have received so many messages from our dance families about how my message in this week's studio newsletter resonated with you. So I thought I'd post it here in case this is what someone else needed to read today. How are you holding up? Mixed emotions, feeling uncertain about what's ahead? Frustrated? Well if that's how you feel, please know you are not alone.... While I am happy for us to move to a virtual learning experience if it means contributing to the health and safety of our community, I'd also love nothing more than to have everyone back at the studio. Sometimes it's hard to find the silver lining in things, especially when you feel so much is being taken away. I keep reassuring myself that "this too shall pass", but it can be hard. On Tuesday Dr. Hinshaw and the Alberta government are expected to make an announcement on further measures Alberta needs to take in our fight against Covid-19. December could look different than what we'd hoped for. In the Spring I spoke about how different can be good and exciting. But, I also know different is... well, different, and with so so much different about our lives today, sometimes different doesn't feel as welcome anymore. My personal challenge this past week has been to try to focus on the good things (the upside), while also taking time to acknowledge the bad things (the downside). Honouring feelings of sadness and frustration, and then making the effort not to dwell there, but to keep moving forward. It's not about pretending there is no downside; it's about recognizing there is one, honouring those feelings and then making the choice to move forward anyways. ...continued in comments See more

Dear Family Members of Flexpointe Studios Inc. Today Premier Kenney and Dr Hinshaw announced a temporary stoping of in-person group classes in response to the ongoing increase in COVID-19 cases we've been seeing across our province. While this news comes with mixed emotions; there are 2 big differences that we see in the announcement made today versus last March. Firstly, we've been here before, and we are ready. We have our virtual learning environment set-up, and our Zoom m...eeting information ready to go. There will be no break in classes, we will switch to virtual Zoom classes starting on Friday November 13th. All classes will run at their regular scheduled times. Secondly, the announcement today comes with a review date. On November 27th restrictions will be reviewed and a further update will be provided. We are not on a completely unknown timeline. Access to online classes If you have not yet set-up your Teachable account, now is the time! Please click the link in our email to join the "For Our Community" module and follow directions provided to gain access to your class modules. If you have any problems, please reach out to our office. The Fine Arts Club is a diverse, all-inclusive program for children ages 2-5 years. It's fun and active curriculum allows children to develop social skills and talents at a young age. Children will participate in dance, yoga and fitness classes while enjoying music, art and drama lessons. Students have five classes each day filled with imagination and creativity. Confused about cohorts? Simply put, a cohort is a group of people who interact in a group setting where 2-meter physical distancing cannot always be maintained. Individuals within a cohort make the decision to only interact in close contact (i.e. to break the 2-meter distancing) with those individuals within their cohort. We’re going hybrid this Fall! What does hybrid mean? Every class on our 2020/21 season schedule will be streamed live for enrolled dancers . This gives every dancer the option of participating either in-person or live from home every week, all season long! #nevermissachancetodance ...
