Is this not the most magical little pendant ever. I think of rainbows and clouds and it couldn't have turned out any more perfect.
I have to say of all my pendants this was never at the top of the list of favourites, pretty but not a favourite. But this picture has changed that... It just looks stunning against the wood, wouldn't you agree?
I just love how striking this piece is against the willow branches. I think this is my new favourite picture of my jewellery. Although I say that about almost every new picture these days... lol
Have you noticed I've been making a lot of reels lately? While they aren't on my feed, they are on my profile under reels. It's because I've also started a tik tok account! If you use the app, make sure to follow me there too (same handle @flickerbugstudio). While I've never really been one for making video before, I'm discovering a love of making short clips as I play around with the app.
Hey! I just wanted to introduce myself in case you are new here. I'm Karin Lickers (& yes I happily married into that last name, lol). I'm the owner, artist, virtual assistant, customer service rep, shipper, & complaint department for Flicker Bug all rolled into one. I am lucky that I have a lot of family & friends willing to help, but if you see anything on social media, in my emails or on the website it's going to be me. I'm one of the lucky few that can say she put her art... degrees to use (yes that's plural) & I'm beyond grateful that after over 13+ years as a full-time entrepreneur I can make a living & support my family with art. If you're interested I can get into the specifics of just how overqualified I am for Flicker Bug another day, lol. Speaking of my family, I'm happily married to my university sweetheart & after over 6 years of infertility, I'm also a proud mom to a beautiful toddler. When I have a spare moment my hobbies include crochet & baking (so don't be surprised to see some of my projects on here too). So, I know this was a bit long today (and honestly there is always more to the story), but that's the important stuff & hopefully, it gives you some insight into what I will be sharing here going forward. *Oh and please excuse the puffy eyes, when you live with a toddler during Covid they never disappear, lol
I'm excited to hear my new kiln (that I can use at home) is arriving next week! I literally ordered in early January and due to covid delays, there is a 3-4 month wait. The sad part is I have 4 kilns in storage that I can't use right now, big ones that take enough electricity they require a special hook up, one my landlord at home won't allow. My new workspace for after lockdown doesn't have the power for them either (and the cost to add it is crazy). So in other words, I nee...ded an alternative. The new kiln is small (so small batches going forward), but its size should let me produce more frequently too. I can't wait!! I'll finally be able to get might night lights going again... Oh and just a pretty pic of the Monet's garden collection, cause I don't have the kiln to show you yet!
This understated rainbow piece is one of my current favourites. I definitely wasn't going for rainbow (just vibrant and colourful) but the whole collection when I went to name it, just seemed to fit rainbow (and apparently I wasn't in a creative mood for naming things). I'm not a huge fan of the name despite how it describes the collection. So I'm thinking.... I might find a discount code for the person who can come up with a better name for this collection. Can you help?
I've got a lot of DM's asking if it's possible to still get pieces in time for Easter, especially regarding my Monet's Garden Collection. I just wanted to just pop on today & confirm that yes there should still be enough time (depending on how far it needs to ship of course). If it's going anywhere in Ontario you are probably safe with just over a week, but the more time you can give it the better (because shipping delays happen & it can take me a couple of days to get orders out depending on how many are coming in, which tends to increase near holidays).
So I know I've been a bit MIA this month as I painstakingly tear apart and pack up what was my main source of income pre-covid. It's physically and mentally exhausting, not to mention stressful. I am officially unmotivated today to continue despite the disaster still left to deal with and 1 more week to go. I just realized the amazing halloween pendants I created have yet to be posted here let alone on my website. I don't see them getting on the website in time for them to s...ell with less than a week to go, so if you are interested please DM me and I'll send them out asap. With less than a week to go it's a chance to get some of my jewellery at a stellar price just above my cost plus shipping. Check out my story to see them all! And please excuse my less than perfect pictures as my photo gear is currently packed up while I deal with everything else. *sigh* See more
I love fall, it's my favourite season, especially after the leaves change.
New test pieces coming out of the kiln tonight! let me know what you think!
