Happy Ukrainian Christmas!! A wooden Pysanka to commemorate the special occasion. A solid cherry egg that has been carved and pyrographed, painted black and highlighted with gold gilding paste. The base is solid cherry and painted black. Special credit to @graemepriddle and @melissaengler for teaching me these techniques a number of years ago

A Maple bowl that I tried some new embellishment techniques on. The top (1st picture) has a Cosmic Cloud effect applied using iridescent paints and an airbrus...h. The bottom is my first attempt at airbrushing using stencils. Both sets of butterflies had two different colors of metallic paints applied. My overall vision was to create the image in the viewers eye of butterflies flying underneath the clouds....not sure I got there but it was a fun experiment See more

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness get us through the darkest times.... I won’t elaborate about 2019 or 2020..... a month ago I got home after a bad day at the bee yard.... an Amazon box sitting on the island for me.... I never ordered anything..... I started to open it and soon realized it wasn’t from Amazon.... it was from Scotland.... only one person I know in Scotland.... an amazing artist and Woodturner who goes by the name @badlybehavedelm ..... I was blown away by... what I found.... a 50th birthday gift of one of the most amazing pieces of art I have ever seen.... in Debs words it’s from a lump of wood cleaved off when Kev was chopping wood. It spent 8 weeks sitting on a shelf, Cos after I put the first color on, I thought fek I’ve ruined it. It nearly went in the fire for a second time. But then I just started playing, making holes and faffing about..... it is absolutely beautiful. I am honoured that she gifted me such an amazing piece of art. Thanks Debs.... it will be treasured for a long time (pictures show the evolution of the bowl and what a real faffer and fekker does to a piece of wood)..... #woodart #badlybehavedelm #woodturner #faffing #fekker #imcomingforalesson See more
