We often get asked about what the FloatSpace silent gym is all about? Usually a long explanation follows trying to explain how we focus on heart coherence and building stress resilience while building functional strength This European ad, which I am sure is going viral as we speak really explains our view on what fitness means, without words. May you all have the strength to lift (at least their spirit! ) someone with the power of love, this holiday season. E...njoy ! https://youtu.be/30Y5TVoYl1A
To know where anxiety or negative behaviour comes from we sometimes overlook the obvious. Below a beautiful definition of the word denial and food for thought for anyone who, .... well really for anyone !

When you learn to see the beauty of change and embrace it rather then fear it, you start seeing life in a very different way. I have found this is so true for every aspect of life, health, work, family, relationships ... ! I love the comparison Dispenza makes with the butterfly ... I always say: nature knows what it is doing and it always wins! Why fight it? https://youtu.be/bI2TWcdL0jo
When we fail to read subtle messages and hints, even nature starts screaming at us until we get it
Floatation therapy has an incredible impact on the brain while inside the float tank. But that is not where it stops. A regular float practice can induce physiological changes in the brain. The increase in full body circulation and oxygen facilitates the blood flow to all the parts and systems of the body, including the brain. This is where the healing starts. Some of our members started their float practice to help them recover from brain injury. What they all have in comm...on is that they did not get tangible recovery help within the conventional medical system, beyond some coping aids like drugs or the advice to just rest and accept their faith. Several experiments, case studies and research projects, around the world have shown that floatation therapy helps people with traumatic brain injuries, repair the physical and neurological dysfunction caused by their injury. We are so grateful day after day we get to witness their journey from being a helpless victim to taking control of their life and their health, their progress and their happiness. #kelownaresilience Sanctuary for Smart Recovery Relaxation and Self-regulation 104 - 1851 Kirshner Rd Kelowna V1Y 4N7 www.floatspace.ca E-mail: [email protected] call or text : +1 250 258 6800

Happy Mothers Day .! Today we celebrate the mother in all of us. We all, men AND women have the ability to access the positive feminine energy, which gives us the ability to love unconditionally, protect, care, nurture, share and connect #floatspace
Noticed an elephant in the room? .... even if you are not ready or afraid to talk about it, seeing and acknowledging it is half the journey.

Give her some self-care. She deserves it !
A floatation session? How does it work? 1. Plan your float on a quiet day without too many plans or a long to-do-list on your mind 2. Walk into your float-room, switch off your phone , undress ( no bathing suit, this is going to be just you and some earplugs ) and shower ... 3. Step into the tank and lie down on the water ( you won't sink because of all the salt , it is like your own mini-dead sea only with a higher salt concentration ! ). Also it is 100% magnesium rich Epsom salt. 4. Switch the light off and enjoy the silence 5. Let your body and brain do the work or rather not do anything ! That is the whole point 6. Rest, Sleep, Envision, Exhale all tension away, Unlock emotions, memories, fears causing this tension ... 7. 90 minutes later, soft music will wake you up and the new ( enlightened ) YOU re-enters the world, with that special post float glow look and a happy heart .. #floatspace
A clich quote from self-proclaimed life-coaches or therapists? ... Actually there is quite some scientific research supporting this and similar statements. Sadly it is not taught to us in our schools or explained to us by our doctors. If you would like to learn more about the science behind how we think influences our health, the quality of our life and succeeding ( whatever that may mean to you ) ... a good place to start is the book : Breaking the Habit of being yourself by Doc. Joe Dispenza. Available in audiobook as well. Stay Healthy & Brave . #floatspace
Dear FloatSpace members and followers, We would like to invite you to the GOLOV-20 initiative. Spread the love and enjoy this 15 minute meditation. We are committed to do at least one a day

What is Floating? You isolate yourself in a pool filled with 10 inches of body-temperature water with enough Epsom salt to effortlessly keep you floating on the surface. It is also dark and silent. Your brain gets a break from having to thermo-regulate your body, defy gravity and process visual and auditory input. That is why floating is also called sensory deprivation. ... Why do people float? To achieve a deep state of mental and physical relaxation To prepare ( by relaxing joints and muscles ) for a massage or chiropractor visit To lower blood pressure To reduce stress hormone levels To heal from concussion & brain injury ( rewire neural pathways ) To self regulate towards healing chronic pain or illness To meditate without distractions or body tension ( sitting like this for a long time, ouch ) ...
Today as we learn more and more about the health risks of the long term use of pharmaceutical symptom focused drugs, the search for holistic ways to achieve health and a strong immune system intensifies. How interesting that many of those holistic methods have been around for thousands of years. Funding for research remains an uphill battle as there is less money to earn with these methods than with patentable or/and addictive drugs. But as we all continue to do our personal and empirical research, we keep learning and re-learning and more importantly un-learning some of the things we have been trained to believe . #kelownaresilience

When your mind is racing, the to do list is long and the pressure is high, meditating can be challenging . This is why our floats are minimum 90 minutes long. It can take up to half that time to empty your head and bring yourself to the present. Whether you agree we are doing the right thing by all staying home or you dont, we are all doing this together and will be home until an unknown date. ... How many times do we get the opportunity to not be on a schedule or have no deadline? . So try, trust, observe and learn. . . Wouldnt it be great if we all came out of this as a better version of ourselves ?

The silver lining and the golden lesson? Give us a call - We are always open in one way or another
Float am or pm ? The theta brain wave state we go into when we float is comparable to the almost conscious state we are in just before we fall asleep or wake up in the morning. So both moments are great for sensory deprivation floatation. AM-float? ... In the morning you are rested, so less temped to fall asleep during your float. You are also preparing for the day, so a float or meditation will help you stay calm in potential stress full situations, boost creativity for you projects, be ready for studying and tasks that require concentration. PM - float? After a busy full day, it might take you a bit longer to get into your float and theta brain wave state. But once you are it will lower stress levels and stop the compulsive flow of thoughts in your brain, since you are still processing your day, the conversations, your challenges etc Worried about not being able to sleep after a late float? It is rare, since you have just calmed your mind, you basically prepared yourself to sleep like a baby ... #kelownaresilience
March is almost here
This month we welcome Carla van Voorst (Certified Bodytalk therapist) and Daneaya Ziolkoski (Certified Hypnotherapist) to our team. They will be offering their services on Thursdays. We have learned that these types of therapies become a lot more effective after people float first and are fully relaxed. BODYTALK is an energy medicine that reconnect all our organs, endocrines, and body parts that have become disconnected either due to trauma, accidents, or chemicals. HYPN...OSIS is a natural state we go in and out of all the time. When we daydream, relax, do anything that we get so involved in we lose track of time and even as we fall asleep. What happens as we relax, is our brain waves slow down and we eventually move into a theta brainwave. When our brain is in theta, we have access to all of our stuff...our story. Hypnotherapy is a great tool for re-programming the mind to reduce habits and stress. See more
The Salt March, which took place from March to April 1930 in India, was an act of civil disobedience led by Mohandas Gandhi to protest British rule in India. During the march, thousands of Indians followed Gandhi from his religious retreat near Ahmedabad to the Arabian Sea coast, a distance of some 240 miles. But the Salt March was a key symbolic win that spurred India's independence movement toward victory. ... Gandhi's act defied a law of the British Raj mandating that Indi...ans buy salt from the government and prohibiting them from collecting their own. During this extremely busy and stressful time, Gandhi was asked: How do you find the time to get everything done? The quote above was his answer. This is so true for any of us. Being busy has become an excuse for not looking after ourselves. And because we dont we become less productive, less creative, unbalanced, drop into negative thinking patterns, fear failure, crave the wrong foods, develop muscle pain and tension ( yes ! - stress loves to hang out in your muscles and joints ! ) etc... and all of that makes us feel busier, mostly because we are less efficient. Yet, when we break the vicious circle, somehow we get more done and need less time to do so. If we give ourselves breaks, we are rested, become more focussed, are better at prioritizing get more done or at least get the right things done. #floatspace
How to stop overthinking? Good news, you dont have to! Your brain and nervous system are perfectly capable of handling complex challenges. As long as you give it the opportunity on a regular basis to clear, reset and recover. It s like your laptop, when there are too many programs open and loops running, it slows down and sometimes even stops working all together ! How often do you RESET yourself? #floatspace
Our members and guests float for such a wide variety of reasons. Even among our athletes the reasons vary. For some it is muscle recovery, for some it is it is a deep self assessment tool or a tool to mentally prepare and visualize their next performance, for some floating is a way to ... clear their minds or let their muscles do growth adaptation work after an intense work-our without wasting energy on any other processes ... One of my favourite poems! I read it for the first time when I was about 8 years old and always remembered. Define your own measures of success ! To the Flemish and Dutch speakers out there, the title is Juf
One of the people I hugely admire. His book When the body says no was one of the early books I read when I started my own journey in challenging what I was taught with what my own intuition had been telling me since early childhood. Every day I meet people of any age who are just starting this journey. At some point in time many of them visit us and I am so grateful I get to witness their learning process. Thank you https://youtu.be/W_ALpvLadQI
Some neck and back mobility in the float tank? Some of our regular floaters love to do their stretches in the tanks. With the muscles soft and relaxed and while being weightless, it is the perfect opportunity to do that. ... https://www.facebook.com/116194618398177/posts/3776239059060363/
