The aisles at flora gardens are too small. It is unsafe to let people inside the greenhouses, so we continue to only sell outside. As soon as the weather improves, we will be putting as many plants on outside tables as possible. In the meantime, please ask for what you want and we can bring it out for you. For the time being, for social distancing reasons, members of the public wont be allowed inside the greenhouses. But we will be pleased to put together orders for you and bring them to your car. The (U.S.) National Garden Bureau has designated 2020 as the year of the Lantana. The butterflies are happy. https://ngb.org/year-of-the-lantana/ flora gardens will have lots of Lantana this year!

We are in Hungary, where Maria is taking her first vacation in 6 years - not just a horticultural field trip! Here is a picture of Maria and her sister Flora - from whom Flora Gardens got its name.

Meanwhile, back at flora gardens, the perennial hibiscus is coming into bloom. Look at all the buds! The dark one is Cranberry Crush and the light one is Cherry Cheesecake.

Thursday we were at Sawaya garden trials (near Simcoe) , comparing varieties. The pink flowers are Supertunia Bubble gum, very popular with flora gardens customers. Here we also see Maria studying the plants and carefully noting their names.

Flora gardens now has Anemone de Caen poppy. Thanks to Arlene Welsh for bringing it to us. It is sure to be a hit.

If the mosquitoes are attacking you, try rubbing leaves of citronella on your skin. This is better than a citronella candle. The mosquitoes may avoid the candle and prefer you! We have lots of plants at flora gardens.

Lewisia Elise Mixed. (Siskiyou Lewisia) Is an evergreen perennial. It blooms from late spring to early or mid fall. It is exceptionally heat and drought tolerant. It does need good drainage. Winner of the 2013 Fleuroselect Gold Medal.

These guys sure get thirsty. Come fill your life with beautiful colours.
