This week 4 years ago we officially opened the doors to Floss & Gloss. But instead of celebrating our this week's milestone we are reflecting and counting our blessings. As entrepreneurs we take calculated risks. We know that owning a business will be difficult but that hard work, perseverance, and a bit of luck should pay off. Never in any of our wildest dreams would we have expected something so catastrophic to occur. After a great deal of stress and uncertainty, I'm fortun...ate that we weathered the storm and managed to not permanently shut down because of the pandemic. However, when I look at my neighbours around town, I wonder how much longer my masseuse or local flower shop can afford to stay in business. I know the little boutique bakery where I buy snacks or my go-to shawarma joint will be hurting through this time. I implore anyone who is reading this to find ways to support their neighbourhood and community (if they aren't already) by trying to put more money into the mom and pop stores around you. Thank you to all our lovely patients and our hard working team for keeping us in business (hopefully for many more years to come ). Can you tell I'm smiling? As businesses in Ontario are starting to reopen, we are all adjusting to what our "new normal" will look like. Today marks the reopening of Floss & Gloss and we've beefed up safety around the office; this photo is what our "new normal" looks like. What do you think of our stylish new wardrobe equipped with face shields, KN95 masks, and disposable gowns?... Being a small business that was built around having patients & staff who are also our friends & family, we will always do our best to keep you safe and healthy. When you're ready to come back in we will be here looking forward to seeing your smiles again.

As social distancing is currently our only viable solution to slow the spreading COVID-19, Floss & Gloss has decided to follow the recommendation of health officials and close our office until further notice. Never in our lives before have we needed to demonstrate such solidarity, but one day we'll get to look back at this and tell our children about how we each contributed to protect the lives of those around us. Stay safe, check in on those you care about, enjoy the time with your loved ones, and hopefully you all were buying lots of floss and toothpaste on those toilet paper runs!
