This order was red velvet cake and cupcakes with chocolate frosting. All decorated as a Mickey Mouse theme! This style of cake decorating is my favourite right now. If you look closely you can see Mickey Mouse shapes hiding. Growing up, my mother was (well, she still is lol) obsessed with Disney so getting to finally do a Mickey Mouse cake was a little nostalgic for me.

Today and this entire month marks 2 big events of significance for Flour Cloud Bakery. Exactly a year ago this month, I started this business. I needed something to keep myself busy during the first lockdown because I was laid off and so I started baking for fun. Then a friend asked me to make a birthday cake for her daughter’s birthday. I had never successfully made a cake before but I figured I’d give it a shot. Little did I know that a year later I’d still be making cake...s and I would have a whole business around that. That brings us to today and why today is so significant. Well, today I officially registered this business! I am officially recognized as a business and I hold sole proprietorship of the name and business. Even though it’s still a really small business, this is such a huge step for me. This gives me the security that no one can take this from me or use the name that I created. I really want to thank each and every one of you for being so supportive. Ordering, liking, commenting and sharing. It all means the world to me! One day this will be a much bigger operation and I truly hope to keep your support through my journey to fulfilling my dreams.

Many of you may not know that I went to culinary school. I am completely self taught for baking but when it comes to food other than dessert, I’ve had formal training. I got an order for a charcuterie board. I’ve never made one before but wow was it fun! I got many different cheeses, meats, fruits, nuts, spreads and crackers. I made the bread from scratch, pickled the red onions myself and made a marinade for the olives. I would hands down do this again!

I tried my hand at dog biscuits! These are made with pumpkin and peanut butter so you know your doggo will go crazy for them. Dog treats are now available at The Mini Moose Cafe!

Going a little outside of my usual products by trying to make gummies! Hopefully they work out and taste good!

A day baking in the kitchen is just what the doctor ordered! Valentine’s is only 7 days away and order cutoff time is only 3 days away so that means it’s time to start pre-preparing for all the orders. Also time to try some new recipes!

Some really big things are happening behind the scenes here at Flour Cloud Bakery! Lots of time in the office, but I will put just as much time in the kitchen as well. All while trying to keep active on here for everyone who likes to see what’s new! But first! Let’s get those orders in for Valentine’s Day! Cutoff time is February 10th at 8pm. Just look at these super cute cupcakes from Christmas time that evidently never got posted! Sometimes a simple swirl and minimal sprinkle-age is all you need.

With 2020 coming to an end tonight we want to thank everyone for all their support this year. 2020 was a rough year for everyone but it was also the year that Flour Cloud Bakery came into existence! Without the likes, comments, shares and orders we wouldn’t be where we are. So thank you for this year. We hope to continue to see our business grow in 2021. We especially hope to continue to see you interacting with our posts and maybe even ordering a special treat for you and your loved ones. Here’s to hoping that 2021 is better than 2020 was. Let’s continue to love and support those around us and continue to support small, local businesses. We wish you all a happy New Year and a safe 2021.

New Years is only a few days away and unfortunately due to the lockdown in Ontario no one can go out, hit the town and celebrate the end to a very trying year. But I did want to share a photo of this cupcake display I made for New Years last year. I remember it being so incredibly fun to make! But even more fun to eat!

It makes me so happy that people are pleased with my products and are sharing their experience. To say I have an addiction to sprinkles is a slight understatement... these sprinkles are only my Sweetapolita ones! I have a whole other basket of just sprinkles I’ve collected from grocery stores
