Flour Philosophy

Holiday Spirit is in the air, along with soft jazz and some...well, flour ofcourse Although, this is supposed to be a happy time, it is often the most difficult time of the year. I can't imagine some of the struggles that people go through, and I am wishing everyone going through a difficult time: strength and love. I am grateful to be surrounded by friends and adopted family during the season, and I send daily warm thoughts to my parents back in Russia. One thing I kn...ow for certain is that putting on some velvety rolling beats in the background while I'm mixing up a batch of chewy Ginger-Molasses cookies soothes my soul, which often longs for home, family, and certainty (luxuries which the events of this year had taken away from many of us). Luckily, the process creates an incredible smell in the house and brings tiny moments of joy of a home-cooked treat to those I care about. A tiny victory, I surrender to the night. It's almost Christmas, and I hope we all remember - because I know that I sometimes forget - the greatest gift that we can give to each other is quality time. See more
