I think everyone would agree that it is time for the weather to improve and to start enjoying Ottawas outdoor patios. Well, this is rather exciting news. The Working Title: Kitchen + Caf located in Sandy Hill is building one of the largest patios in the City. The new addition will run one block wide starting at Laurier Avenue and Chapel Street. Following extensive renovation, the old Allsaints Church offers full-service on-site catering with an emphasis on local sustainably sourced ingredients. The cafe offers Fluid Solar Roasted Coffee, casual snacks and lunch options, as well as craft beer and wine; while the catering menu is focused on exceptional dining. In either case, you can drop in and enjoy the industrial-style space, with original stone walls and modern lighting. It is a space to enjoy.

For the past 22 years, owner/chef Petra Graber has been serving up locally-inspired food at her cafe GoodFoodCompany. This quaint 28 seat cafe is located in the old Mac Williams pharmacy in historic Carleton Place. Restaurants need 4 things to make them superior; good food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and last but not least excellent coffee. ( - unabashed advertising plug for Fluid!) The "GFC" as it is known, excels on all of these points. The cafe is open for breakfast,... lunch and weekend brunch, for which it is well known and busy, so reservations are recommended. Everything is made from scratch or locally-sourced. Quality of ingredients are first rate, and transformed into tasty dishes, such as eggs benny with wild-caught salmon and perfectly smooth hollandaise sauce, or Hueveos Rancheros topped with thick-cut maple bacon. Add in, fresh-squeezed orange juice, (perhaps served as a mimosa), an americano and a choice of desert and you will leave full and happy.

Espresso is a lovely word, conveying "expressly for you", "expressed from the machine" and "quickly enjoyed". On a practical note, very hot water is forced through finely-ground coffee creating a small "shot" of rich, thick liquid topped with a viscous crema. Espresso should look as beautiful as it tastes! The Fair offers the largest electric vehicle expo between Toronto and Montreal. It is a great opportunity to speak with owners and car dealers about their experiences. EV owner Jeff Goodman will be speaking about the cost and reliability advantages of these tr...uly amazing vehicles. Numerous "green vendors" and exhibitors are located though-out the community centre. Fluid Coffee will be offering free coffee tastings all day and the team would love for you to stop by and chat. We have had the pleasure of both meeting and working with them during a pop-up at their opening teaser last year. Wow! These folks are super-energiz...ed and super-nice.
