Two of us participated in a fabulous project with the Capilano Flute Choir. Michelle and Leslie Uhlig both chose to play a bass flute part to a massive piece called "Spem in Alium", a renaissance piece by Thomas Tallis. This is for FORTY VOICES. Grouped as 5 mini-sections of 8, but each person has their very own individual part! The music is slightly odd in places, as composers and artists of the time really pushed the boundaries. See if you can spot Michelle and Leslie U! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCRVl6FZ9eE
Today would have been our Annual Afternoon of Flute Music concert, co-sponsored by the City of Delta. This year we have instead started coordinating online to play Christmas and holiday music flute arrangements. Most are 2-4 pages but this beauty is seven. #flutesrockpandemicornot
Creativity between music and art!
Here's a tune Michelle wrote and then arranged for Fluterrific, performed at our surprise pop-up concert in September in Vancouver.
Here are a couple more photos from our surprise pop-up concert on Sunday. Thank you to Brian Flanagan for the pics.
