This morning I made this special bouquet. The client had a very specific vision for the bouquet and I was happy to bring it to life What made this order special?- you might ask. It is that the client ordered flowers from Russia for her sister living in Toronto. She wanted the bouquet to be the way it would look like if she picked and handed it herself. As someone who lives away from her family, I know this feeling very well. Though, it wasn’t easy to make this work logistically, I’m so happy we did! Happy Earth Day! April is a month when wherever you look, everyone talks about environment and eco-consciousness. However, we can’t just spend a month talking about the importance of taking care of the environment and then go on with our daily practices full of single-use plastic, disposable masks and toxic products. At FLWR Point, we constantly work on improving our practices to make sure we create as little harmful waste as possible all year round.... Here are a few things that we do every day: No flower foam. We don’t use floral foam in our arrangements as it is known to be carcinogenic. When dry it breaks down to dust which gets in florist’s lungs causing serious health problems to those working with it a lot. In addition to that, it doesn't fully dissolve in water or degrade in landfill or soil, creating harmful waste for the environment. No plastic wrapping. All our bouquets are wrapped in Kraft paper and aqua packed Compostable Eco Flower Wraps and bags. When sourcing flowers we choose local flowers over imported whenever possible.
