In this week’s video, I talk about FlySight’s altitude mode. As always, if you have any questions or ideas for future videos, please let me know in the comments.
In this week’s video, I talk about two ways of measuring altitude, and the strengths and weaknesses of each one. As always, if you have any questions, please share them in the comments.
In this week’s video, I talk about how to use the accuracy estimates included in FlySight's log files. This one is a bit more technical than past videos, so if you have any follow-up questions, please don’t hesitate to share them in the comments.
In the next two videos, I’m going to answer the question, How accurate is FlySight’s data? We begin with a little groundwork discussing accuracy in general. As always, if you have any questions, or if there are other topics you would like to see covered, please let me know in the comments.
In this week’s video, I demonstrate how to test a configuration file before you go for a jump. As always, if there are other topics you would like to see covered, please let me know in the comments.
What apps (desktop, mobile or online) do you use to analyze FlySight data? Can you say a few words about why you like each one? Do you mind if I share your review? I'm thinking of adding a list to the FlySight wiki, and want to make it as comprehensive as possible.
Developer Jordan Gould has just released a beautiful new iOS app for viewing FlySight tracks. Anyone who has used FlySight Viewer should feel right at home with "Airtime: Infinite". The clean interface makes it easy to perform basic analysis in much the same way you might do it on a desktop computer. To top it off, Jordan is offering his app for free on the App Store.
FlySight users sometimes ask us if we've tested any Bluetooth audio accessories. I haven't tested any myself, but a FlySight user recently reported good results with the combination shown here. These are: Transmitter: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000120131612.html Earbud: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000618730400.html... When you're shopping for Bluetooth accessories, be mindful that the transmitter and earbuds must be compatible. With Bluetooth Classic, it was pretty easy to get a pair of devices to work together using something called A2DP. However, these units typically use a lot of power, so they don't work well with portable devices. Bluetooth Low Energy is better for portable devices, but until recently there hasn't been a common audio standard. This means most of the products on the market today use proprietary standards, so the best thing is to look for a transmitter and earbuds from the same manufacturer.
Richo Healey has just released a new iOS app, called Stoke Level, for analyzing FlySight tracks: https://apps.apple.com/app/stoke-level/id1482036286 Tracks can be loaded directly from your FlySight using Apple's Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter. The app currently shows plots of elevation, horizontal and vertical speed, and dive angle, displays the track on a map, and calculates Wingsuit Performance scores, flare height, maximum vertical speed and roll-out horizontal speed fo...r swoopers. Stoke Level is available at an introductory price until the end of the March.
I've updated FlySight Viewer to include the 2020 rule changes for FAI Speed Skydiving and Wingsuit Performance. The linked video will walk you through these changes. As always, you can download the latest version of FlySight Viewer here: http://flysight.ca//index.p/Cross-platform_FlySight_Viewer
